How To Fix Madden NFL 22 Crashing On PS4 | NEW & Updated

One of the popular games for the PS4 today is the Madden NFL 22. The game has added fresh tweaks to the franchise, which does not happen a lot for most sports video games so it’s not surprising that millions of fans are excited about it. But just like any new game, Madden 22 on the PS4 comes with its fair share of bugs and glitches and crashing issue is one of the most prominent. If you’re experiencing crashing issues on your Madden 22 game, we got you covered in this guide.

How to fix Madden NFL 22 crashing on PS4?

While playing Madden NFL 22 on the PS4 goes without any hitch for most people, some may encounter issues such as random crashes and poor performance. If the game keeps crashing on your PS4 and you have no idea how to go about it, here are the things that you can try:

Fix #1: Restart Madden 22.

A PS4 game may crash due to numerous reasons. Most of the time, new games may develop minor bugs due to poor coding but also because of random issues with a particular PS4 system. The good thing is, random crashes may be fixed by doing a simple thing — closing and restarting the game.

If Madden 22 crashes randomly and there seems to be no clear pattern for the issue, consider closing and relaunching the game. If you have a physical copy of the game, be sure to take it out from the system and reinsert it to start all over again.

Fix #2: Refresh the PS4 system cache.

Another basic yet sometimes effective way to deal with crashing issues is by doing a full reboot of your console. This can work if the cause of the problem is a minor bug that may have developed after leaving the console running for a long time.

To do a complete PS4 reboot, follow these steps:

  1. On your controller, press and hold the PS button.
  2. Once the Power menu shows up, select Turn off PS4.
  3. Wait until the PS4 is powered down then unplug the power cable from the outlet for 30 seconds.
  4. After 30 seconds, turn the PS4 back on and check for the problem.

Fix #3: Install updates.

By default, your PS4 should automatically check for updates on its own as long as it’s connected to the internet. However, you can always double check if your games, apps, and software are running the latest version anytime. The idea is to make it a point to keep the software environment of the console updated all the time.

For Madden 22, the game client should download and install the latest updates for you but you can always manually check it as well. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the PS4 Home screen.
  2. Hover over your Madden 22 game.
  3. Press the Options button on your controller.
  4. Once the side menu is pulled up, select Check for Update.
  5. If a game is already updated to its latest version, you’ll see the following message: The Installed application is the latest version.
  6. If an update is available, select Go to {Downloads] to begin downloading the update file.
  7. You should see the game or app update file downloading on the Downloads page.

If you want to update your PS4 software, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your PS4 Home screen.
  2. Select Settings at the top.
  3. Select System Software Update and allow any system updates to install.
  4. Reboot your PS4 console.

Fix #4: Delete and reinstall Madden 22.

If updating Madden 22 did not help, the next solution that you can do is to add a clean copy of the game to the system. This means deleting and reinstalling Madden 22.

To uninstall a PS4 game:

  1. Go to the PlayStation Home screen.
  2. Highlight the Madden 22 game and press the Options button on your controller.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. Confirm your action to uninstall the game.

Fix #5: Rebuild the PS4 database.

If Madden NFL 22 still crashes after reinstalling it, it’s possible that the cause of the problem lies with your PS4 database. To refresh it, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds to turn off the console.
  2. Once the console has powered down, press and hold the Power button in front again. Make sure to hold the Power button for about 7 seconds until you hear two beeps–the first beep should occur after you press the button and second after 7 seconds.
  3. After the second beep, release the Power button.
  4. Once you’ve reached Safe Mode, select Option 5 [Rebuild Database].
  5. Press the X button to start the rebuild.

Fix #6: Factory reset your PS4.

The last resort that you can do to fix Madden 22 crashing issues on your PS4 is to wipe the console clean. To achieve this, you must reboot the console again to Safe Mode and select the Option 6 [Initialize PS4]

This is going to factory reset your PS4 and will delete all games, apps, and game progress. Make sure to save your game data before doing a factory reset.
