LG V20 Text Message Notification Badge Not Working

Problem: I have an LG V20 on Android 7.0 from at&t. Recently it stopped showing notification badges when I get text messages. The text will pop up for a second or two, then disappear as if I read it. I can see it when I go to the app, but no badge showing a new text. If I don’t hear my phone, I have no clue I got a text. I have to go into the app and open the conversation to see if I have a new text. It always happens when I have Bluetooth on, and only occasionally when Bluetooth is off. At first I thought it was my text app Textra, so I switched to Android Messages. It’s still doing the same exact thing. I have no idea what changed our why it happened. All of my other notifications work fine except for texting. The one I use the most, of course. I have notifications turned on in settings as well. Please help! Thank you!

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. If your phone is already running on the latest software version and the issue still occurs then proceed with the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

LG V20 Not Sending Long Text Message

Problem: This is a new phone. I can’t text long messages. It just keeps sending but doesn’t send. Then my friend sent me a download and it won’t do anything. Says can’t download try again later.

Solution: Usually if you are trying to send a long text message this gets converted to an MMS. Since you are unable to download a text message sent to you as well then it’s very likely that your are not using mobile data on your phone or the APN settings of your phone are not correctly set.

To fix this problem just make sure that your phone has a mobile data connection. You should also make sure that the APN settings of your phone are the same as what your carrier is using.

LG V20 Stuck In Bootloop

Problem: One day I was watching Netflix and I went up to go to the bathroom to wash my hands I had put the phone on the counter it made a thumping noise and cut off I thought I might be dead so I plug it up and it cuts on all the way then two seconds later the phone cuts in and off and staying on the loading screen right before I can unlock my phone I didn’t slam my phone and the counter or nothing I just set it there now it won’t stay on without doing a rebooting loop continually and I had plenty of storage in the phone and don’t have any 3rd party apps downloaded onto it

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular is to make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge. Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it gets removed. Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger. If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. With the phone still connected to its charger try turning on the phone. If it doesn’t turn on then try using a new battery

In case the issue persists then you should try doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG V20 Does Not Charge

Problem: my phone has refused to charge. When i connect it to the charger the battery drains out instead of increasing. i have tried cleaning the charging ports on the phone and the usb cable. i removed the battery from the phone, but still no change. i also went ahead to try other chargers, but still the same issue. i even used my charger to charge another phone and it worked. please help me

Solution: Try using a new battery on the phone then check if it charger. If it doesn’t then this could already be caused by a hardware component that is failing to work possibly the charging port or power IC. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG V20 Screen Went Black

Problem: It’s my work phone that the company gave me. Everything was running fine, then all of a sudden I was on the net with it and it went to a black screen. There’s still a picture on it and I can pull down from the top screen to see the notifications and stuff, but that’s all. It won’t let me close any apps or do anything for that matter… I tried the soft reset; shutting it down and taking battery out for a few mins, but still nothing. HELP PLEASE! Is there still something I can do rather than doing a hard reset? Please get back to me asap.

Solution: Right now the best thing that you can do is a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data. In case this fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG V20 Screen Is Black

Problem: Hello!  I hope you can help me with my strange problem! I noticed around 2pm yesterday, that there was a sort of ghost shadow on the bottom  of my screen.  It looked something like screen burn, which is what I thought it might be.  By 4pm there was a big shadow in the middle and stretching to the top left, and within two hours the screen got so dark I couldn’t see anything on it.  I know from initiating a restart and then shut down that the touch screen is still responsive, but the screen is now almost completely black save for a flicker on the bottom and a bit on the right side.  It is completely unusable.  I considered replacing the screen, but I don’t think that would solve the problem.  Any ideas?

Solution: This appears to be a hardware related problem already caused by a faulty display. You should first have this checked at a service center and if it is found to be defective you should have it replaced.

LG V20 Freezing After Software Update

Problem:  Recently AT&T pushed an update on my phone that has resulted in the phone constantly lagging, freezing, and being unresponsive unless i hard reset or remove the battery. It has essentially made the phone completely useless and it is incredibly frustrating. I’m not sure if I should do a factory reset as others online have noted that this has not helped them after a similar thing happened to them. Thank you.

Solution: If this issue occured right after a software update then it could be caused by old software data that has not been completely removed from the phone during the update process. This old data usually causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue. Listed below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to perform.

  • If your phone has a microSD card then try removing it.
  • Update your phone apps from the Google Play Store then  check if the issue still occurs.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
