How to Remove AI Features from a Samsung Galaxy Phone
Samsung Galaxy phones running One UI often come with AI-driven features like Bixby, AI-generated wallpapers, and intelligent app suggestions. While some of these cannot be fully removed, many can be disabled or hidden for a less AI-driven experience.
Method 1: Disable Bixby
Step 1: Press and hold the Side key
Step 2: Tap the Settings gear in the top-right corner
Step 3: Under “Press and hold”, choose Power off menu instead of “Wake Bixby”
Step 4: Go back, and open the Samsung Settings app
Step 5: Scroll to Advanced Features > Bixby Routines, toggle it Off
Step 6: Also go to Apps > Bixby Voice or Bixby Services, tap Disable (if available)
Method 2: Remove or Limit Samsung AI Wallpaper
Step 1: Long-press your home screen
Step 2: Tap Wallpaper and style > Change wallpapers
Step 3: Choose a static image from your Gallery or default wallpapers
Step 4: Avoid selecting “AI-generated” wallpapers from the Dynamic Lock Screen
Method 3: Turn Off AI Suggestions and Customization
Step 1: Open Settings
Step 2: Go to Advanced Features > Smart Suggestions, toggle off options like Apps, Settings, and Calendar events
Step 3: Navigate to Settings > Privacy > Customization Service
Step 4: Toggle it Off to stop Samsung from using your data for AI customization
Method 4: Remove Google Assistant (if preferred over Bixby)
Step 1: Open the Google app
Step 2: Tap your profile photo > Settings > Google Assistant
Step 3: Scroll to General, toggle Google Assistant off
Method 5: Disable Camera AI Features
Step 1: Open the Camera app
Step 2: Tap the Settings gear icon
Step 3: Disable features like Scene optimizer, Shot suggestions, and Scan QR codes
Step 4: If your phone includes Photo Remaster or Object Eraser, you can disable these under Gallery Labs if enabled
Method 6: Revoke Permissions for AI-driven Apps
Step 1: Go to Settings > Apps
Step 2: Tap on apps like Samsung Internet, Samsung Keyboard, or Samsung Health
Step 3: Tap Permissions, then deny access to data you don’t want used (like location, contacts, microphone)
Method 7: Factory Reset with Minimal Setup (Optional)
Step 1: Go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Factory data reset
Step 2: After reset, during setup avoid signing into Samsung account, skip customization prompts
Step 3: Avoid enabling services like Bixby, SmartThings, or Samsung Cloud during setup
These methods will help limit or disable AI features on your Samsung Galaxy device without requiring root access.
