How to fix your Samsung Galaxy A5 that keeps rebooting randomly (easy steps)

If your phone doesn’t turn on, it might be due to a drained battery or an issue with the hardware but if it won’t boot up, then it could be due to a firmware issue. How to fix Galaxy A5 that keeps rebooting by itself

The course of our troubleshooting will be to determine if this is just a minor glitch with the system and if not, then we will move to the possibility that it could be due to some third-party apps. And then we will try other procedures in case the issue continues.

First solution: Do the forced reboot after the phone restarted on its own

The forced reboot will refresh the phone’s memory and I suggest  you do it every after the phone reboots on its own. The automatic reboot may not be like the normal reboot as it could have been caused by some inconsistencies or glitches in the system. To address those issues, press and hold the volume down button and the power key at the same time for 10 seconds or more. Your phone will reboot normally but everything will be refreshed. Then, continue using it to know if it would still reboot on its own and if it would, then move on to the next step.

Second solution: Use your phone in Safe Mode

Running the phone in safe mode will temporarily disable all third-party apps and services. In this section, we will try to find out if the problem is caused by one of the apps you downloaded and installed that’s why you need to do this. Running the phone in safe mode alone won’t fix the problem but it will give you an idea what the cause of the issue is. Once the phone enters safe mode, continue using it normally and wait to know if it still reboots, if the problem is fixed, then you have to find out which app causes the problem and uninstall it.

  1. Make sure that your phone is completely powered off then proceed with the next steps.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  3. While continuously holding down the Volume Down key, press the Power key shortly to power up your phone.
  4. The device will then power up in Safe Mode. Swipe on the screen.
  5. When you see the Safe Mode label on the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume Down key. You are now in Safe Mode.
  6. Tap Apps to start diagnosing apps in safe mode.
  7. Tap Settings.
  8. Scroll down to and then tap on Application Manager.
  9. Navigate to the Downloaded section then tap on a recently downloaded app you suspect may be causing an issue. Once you see the app details on the screen, tap on Uninstall.

However, if the phone still reboots in safe mode, then it could be an issue with the firmware. Move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Wipe cache partition

When some of the system caches get corrupted or obsolete, issues like this may also occur. In fact, performances problems may keep on happening if the integrity of those files has been compromised. The good thing about it if this is really the case is that it’s pretty easy to fix. All you gotta do is delete those files so that the firmware can replace them with new ones. That’s what I want you to do in this section. I want you to delete all the caches in your phone so that they will be replaced with new ones. Here’s how you do that:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key.
  4. When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  5. Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Fourth solution: Reset all settings

If the problem continues after wiping off the contents of the cache partition, then you should try resetting the phone back to its default or factory configuration. The good thing about this procedure is that you won’t lose any of your files and data but it still has that “reset effect” and benefits.

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Backup and reset.
  3. Tap Reset settings.
  4. Tap Reset settings, to confirm.
  5. If applicable, enter the PIN, password or pattern.
  6. Tap Reset settings.

Fifth solution: Master reset

Of course, after doing the first three procedures and the problem continues to bug you, then you have no other choice but to reset your phone because some data files may have been corrupted. The only way to rectify the issue is to reset your device however, make sure you backup your files and data before the reset because they will be deleted.

  1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Google account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Google credentials to finish the Master reset.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  5. When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  6. Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  7. Press Power button to select.
  8. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  9. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  10. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  11. Press the Power key to restart the device.
