Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Loses Wi-Fi Connection

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year that holds up well today against its competition. The phone uses a 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display which is still surprisingly compact and can easily be used with one hand. Unlike its predecessor,, which had a flat screen, this new model uses a curved edge display. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 loses Wi-Fi connection issue and other related problems.

S8 Loses Wi-Fi Connection

Problem: My S8 sometimes loses WiFi and won’t let me turn WiFi on and off. It shows as on but shows no available networks and the slider will only flick off then on again and won’t stay off. To recover this I have to reset the phone but it keeps failing on the reset and just showing the spinning screen. I have to do the long power hold to reset properly. Also finding the phone freezes on certain apps like FB messenger and again I have to manually reset or it gets stuck.

Related Problem: I am having the Wi-Fi issue with my recently purchased Galaxy S8. The service is through Simple Mobile. Once my Wi-Fi engages within a few minutes the dreaded exclamation point appears and the Wi-Fi no longer works. So I’ll disengage then re engage Wi-Fi then it lasts 1-2 minutes again before it drops. I’ve tried a soft restart. Please help me resolve this. Thank you

Related Problem: have this repetitive problem with the Wifi connection. The internet keeps connecting and disconnecting on it’s own, this process takes about a sec in between connecting and disconnecting, and I can’t interfere to adjust it. I have reset device settings , network settings, cleared cache, and updated system, but all that didn’t work at all. Any recommendations

Solution: If the problem temporarily gets fixed when you restart the phone then there’s a possibility that this is caused by a software glitch. The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Session Has Timed Out When Connected To Wi-Fi

Problem: thanks for spending time answering my question. i have a samsung galaxy S8 ,and i’m having troubles with connecting to network since 2 days ago.when i connect to a wifi network, chrome browser opens immediately and after a few second network disconnects and shows this message: “your device has been disconnected from this network. your session has timed out” i’ve tried to modify network configurations by changing the ‘ip setting’ option to static and set the ip address to 192.168.1.1,then i was connected to that network but i wasn’t actually able to send or receive data (device was showing that i’m connected to network, however i was actually disconnected). what should i do with this problem? thank you

Solution: You will need to check first if the problem is caused by the wireless network that you are connected to. Try connecting the phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then you might want to check the settings of the original router as this is what’s causing the problem.

In case the same issue occurs when your phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below. After performing a step immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed to the next step.

  • From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps. Go to  Settings – General management – Reset. Tap Reset network settings then tap reset settings.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occurs in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Wi-Fi Speed Is Slow

Problem: I have the galaxy s8. I was having a problem with randomly (every few minutes) losing connection to wifi and even when connected it was so slow videos and pictures won’t load. My husband was having similar problem with his iPhone so we contacted cable company and upgraded our internet to get fast speed. After that he has significant improvements to his connection speed and I had no change if anything it’s now even slower. Why is my download and upload speeds so slow when other people on the same internet get literally 100x the download speed I’m getting.

Solution: To fix this problem you should try to delete the Wi-Fi connection from your phone then connect to its again.

  • From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  • Go to Settings – Connections – Wi-Fi.
  • Tap the Wi-Fi network you wish to remove.
  • Tap FORGET.

Restart your phone then connect to the Wi-Fi network again. The issue should be fixed by now.
