Solution: Before performing any of the troubleshooting steps listed below it’s best to make sure that the phone is running on the latest software version first. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first.

Clean the charging port of the phone

There are instances when dirt or debris can get stuck in the charging port of the phone. These particles can affect the way the device charges. Make sure that the port is free from dust or debris by cleaning it with a can of compressed air.

Make sure the fast charging setting is activated

You will need to make sure that the fast charging option of the device is activated to enjoy faster charging speeds. On the Home screen, tap Apps- Settings – Device maintenance – Battery – More option- Advanced settings – Activate Fast cable charging option

Use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone

You should consider the possibility that the charging cord and wall charger that you are using is causing the problem.  If this is the case then using a different charging cord and wall charger should fix the issue

Perform a soft reset

There are instances when a minor software glitch is causing this problem. To eliminate this possibility you should do a soft reset.

  • Press and hold the volume down button and don’t release it.
  • Now press and hold the Power key while holding down the volume down button.
  • Keep both keys held down together for 10 seconds or more

Start the phone in Safe Mode

It’s possible that an app you downloaded can cause this problem. To check if this is the case you will need to start the phone in Safe Mode since only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn the phone off.
  • Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
  • When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.

In case the problem does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

Sometimes the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
  • An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  • Press Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then chances are this is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. The best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the issue still persists then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
