Here are the things you can do if your phone is bugged down by the Play Store error 971…
- Make sure you have enough storage left in your device.
- Download the app to the internal storage.
- Reset network settings to refresh connection.
- Reset Google Play Store.
- Factory Reset your phone.
Your device’s storage always has something to do with Play Store error 971 that’s why we must begin our troubleshooting by checking if there’s enough storage left. Play Store may be able to read the storage device but if there’s not enough space left, then it won’t be able to write on it. With that being said, try to move some of your files to the SD card or to a computer to free up some space.
On the other hand, if you’re downloading the app directly into the SD card, try changing the destination to the internal storage and if the installation is successful, just move it to the SD card after that. There are times when the system has some issues reading and writing on the card so you have to do this to rule out this possibility.
The next thing you have to do if the problem continues even after doing the first two procedures is to reset the network settings of your phone. This will refresh the connection of the device to the network but you have to reconnect to the same network after doing this as all hotspots will be deleted. If the error still shows up after this, then try the next one.
Clear the cache and data of the Google Play Store so that they will be replaced with new ones. Don’t worry, everything is automated and all you have to do is initiate the clearing of those files by going to Application Manager and opening the Play Store’s settings page. None of your applications will be deleted if you did this so it’s safe yet very effective.
Lasly, if all else fails, a reset will be your best bet as it will fix almost all software-related problems. The Play Store is one of the core apps that comes pre-installed in every Android device so needless to stay the app is embedded in the firmware. The error might be just a result of a more serious firmware issue that’s why you need to reset the device. Before the reset, make a backup of your important files and data first as they will be deleted.
