How to fix Galaxy J3 if wifi and Bluetooth are not working

Hello #GalaxyJ3 owners! Welcome to today’s J3 troubleshooting article. Our focus in this article is to address some of the common network issue on this device. If you happen to be having trouble connecting, sending/receiving texts, this post might help.

Problem #1: How to identify a bad app if Galaxy J3 is randomly restarting

Shuts down erratically-in safe mode works fine-only apps added are capital one banking, local tv weather channel, and yahoo mail-is it likely one of these is causing the shutdown and can u tell from yur experience the most likely app-use these apps every day and my husband has an s7 active with these and many more apps and has no shutdown issues-isthe j3 just not capable some apps.

Solution: Not all apps are compatible with all Android devices. Some apps may not support a particular model due to hardware limitation while others may be for some software or security considerations. It’s up for the developer what to make of its products and whether or not they support a particular phone model. Since you’ve already identified the reason for the random shut down issue, you should continue by identifying what app is causing this. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your J3 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4. Do this cycle until you’ve identified the cause.

Problem #2: Galaxy J3 keeps getting Google error after deleting Google account

Hello. when i go in to my photo app, i keep getting a message from google saying, your missing out update your google photos. i deleted my google account a couple of weeks ago, still getting pestered with that google pop up. i have deleted the cache, i have disabled all the google apps, but still getting ths pop up i have rebooted the phone, but still getting thismessage thank you at the bottom of this list i put android version 9, but im not sure. i have a galaxy J3.

Solution: If you’ve deleted your Google account from Google servers but not in the phone, this can be the reason why. Your J3 is probably still trying to establish a connection to Google computers to validate the Google account still in the phone. Make sure that you remove your Google account from the device and replace it with a new one.

To delete a Google account:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Cloud and accounts.
  3. Tap Accounts.
  4. Select your Google account.
  5. Tap Remove account button.

If you’ve already removed your Google account but the error persists, factory reset your device. Here’s how:

  1. Create a back up of your data.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Problem #3: Unlocked Galaxy J3 mobile data not working

I’m using my unlocked Samsung J3 (formerly Virgin US) on Bouygues Telecom. The calling function is just fine but it won’t access the internet. All the help website say to follow Apps – Settings – Mobile Networks – Access Point Names to reset the APN.  Only problem is that under “Mobile Networks” my phone gives me three choices: Network Mode, Data Roaming, and Network Operators, but no Access Point Names. So even if I wanted to try resetting the APN using the Bouygues settings I cannot get to that function.  Any ideas of what I can do to connect to the internet? Thanks.

Solution: If this phone was originally built for Virgin Mobile, it’s probably using CDMA technology. CDMA devices may be unlocked to allow it to use some network services in other networks but mobile data may not work at all. It’s not uncommon to hear CDMA devices from Sprint and Verizon being unable to use cellular data connection when outside their original network. Try to talk to a technical support agent from your carrier (Bouygues Telecom) and see if they can confirm our suspicion. If that’s true, you’re out of luck. If you wish to use mobile data in your current network, you should get a compatible phone from them instead.

Problem #4: How to fix Galaxy J3 if wifi and Bluetooth are not working

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy J3 that’s been having connection issues. I can no longer turn on wifi or bluetooth. When I go to do so, the slider stays gray and when I close the settings and reopen them, it returns to being off. This happens for both bluetooth and wifi, regardless of how long I let my phone try to turn either on. PLEASE help! For now my phones data is unlimited, but that is subject to change, and then I will have no internet access at all once my monthly data runs out. One of the apps required for my chem course in college requires bluetooth, and I’m at my wits end trying to fix it!  Thank you.

Solution:  There are a number of things that you must check to identify the cause of the problem. Below are the troubleshooting steps that you can do.

Force reboot

Sometimes, this simple procedure can fix bugs that developed after the system has run for a long time. This is a simple procedure that you can do anytime. Basically, what you want to achieve is to force the system to refresh itself. You can do that by removing the battery for a few seconds. We suggest that you turn the phone off normally first before you remove the battery. After ten seconds, put the battery back in and see if wifi and bluetooth work.

Install app and Android updates

In order to minimize app and software bugs, make it a point to regularly check for updates. This is especially important if you change the default setting in your device to automatically download and install updates.

If you have apps sourced outside the Play Store, be sure to check with their publishers if they are compatible with the current Android version, or if they are up-to-date.

Safe mode

There’s a chance that one of your downloaded apps is causing this problem. To check, try restarting your J3 to safe mode. Here’s how:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.
  3. When “SAMSUNG” appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  7. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.
  8. Check for the problem.

Remember, safe mode blocks third party apps from running. If wifi and bluetooth works in safe mode only, that means one of your apps is to blame.

To identify which of your apps is causing the trouble, you should boot the phone back to safe mode and follow these steps:

  5. If your S9 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

Reset network settings

When it comes to fixing network issues in Android, clearing network settings is a must. This procedure will delete all Bluetooth pairings, wifi lists and passwords, cellular configurations, and VPN settings. To do it, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap General management.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Tap Reset Network settings.
  5. Tap RESET SETTINGS button to confirm.
  6. Restart your S9 and check for the problem.

Factory reset

Your ultimate troubleshooting step of course is to wipe the phone with factory reset. As its name suggests, this will return all software settings to their defaults. Be sure to back your files up before doing it.

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  7. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  8. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.
