Solution 1: RUN DISM and SFC tool

To run the SFC scan:

1. At the search bar on your Windows located at the lower left, type Command Prompt.
2. Right click on the Command Prompt result and click Run as Administrator from the drop down menu. This is required for administrative access. If a prompt User account control (UAC) appears, click OK.
3. At Command prompt window, type the command sfc /scannow and press Enter . Windows will now scan for corrupt or missing update files. Do not abort the process and wait for it to complete.

Solution 2: Uninstall Discord

First you need to Stop the Discord process completely:

1. Simultaneously press CTRL + Shift + Esc on your keyboard to open Task Manager Window.
2. Inside task manager, scroll down and locate Discord which is located under Apps Processes.
3. Right click on Discord process and click End Task from the drop down menu.
4. Exit Task Manager window.

To uninstall Discord:

1. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open RUN dialog box.
2. At RUN dialog box, type control panel and press Enter or click OK.
3. Inside Control panel, make sure View by is set to Large icons.
4. Click Programs and features.
5. Scroll down and locate Discord.
6. Right click on Discord and then click Uninstall option.
7. Restart your computer.

Solution 3: Delete Discord folders and other related files

One of the easiest and considered to be the best way to fix the problem and proceed with the download and installation process without experiencing the same error is to delete Discord folder and other related files as well. Discord files may be corrupted that may have caused this problem in the first place.

To do this:

1. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open RUN dialog box
2. At RUN dialog box, type %AppData% and press Enter or click OK. File explorer window will open.
3. Inside Roaming folder, scroll down and locate Discord
4. Right click on Discord and click Delete from the drop down menu
5. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open RUN dialog box
6. At RUN dialog box, type %LocalAppData% and press Enter or click OK. File explorer window will open but this time with under Local folder.
7. Inside Local Folder, scroll down and locate Discord.
8. Right click on Discord and click Delete from the drop down menu
9. Restart Computer

Solution 4: Install Discord

After uninstalling Discord and removing discord related files, you need to reinstall Discord application.

To do this:

1. Launch web browser
2. Go to Discord website from here
3. Click Download for Windows tab. This will download Discord application latest version.
4. Once download is complete, right click on setup.exe and then select Run as Administrator from the drop down menu. If User Account Control (UAC) appears, click OK.
5. Run the Discord executable and then follow the onscreen instructions on how to install Discord.

Solution 5: Uninstall Windows Update

If none of the solutions mentioned above did not fix download error on Discord, try to uninstall and recall recent updates with Windows. There are times when new versions interferes with Discord download and sometimes causes conflict that can also cause installation has failed error. Although this is considered to the last resort in fixing this problem as updating to the latest version of Windows helps with security enhancements that protects your computer.

To uninstall Windows update, follow the steps below:

1. Press Windows key + I on your keyboard to open Windows Settings section.
2. Inside Windows settings, click Update and Security.
3. At left pane, click Windows Update.
4. At right pane, click View Update History
5. Click the option Uninstall and update. A new window opens.
6. At new window, locate the recent update you just installed. Right click on the update and click uninstall from the drop down menu.
