How to fix a Samsung Galaxy A6 2019 smartphone that is stuck on black screen of death (easy steps)

Just this May, Samsung released an octa-core handset and the latest addition to its patented Galaxy lineup, branded as the Galaxy A6 (2018). The new Samsung handset runs on Android 8.0 (Oreo) platform. While there’s still no negative reports that surface regarding early issues experienced by the first few owners of this new Samsung handset, I’ve mapped out this walkthrough to serve as future reference for anyone who will encounter an issue on the Galaxy A6 (2018) that gets stuck on black screen of death. Read on to find out what applicable options to try on when dealing with this same problem on your new Galaxy A6 smartphone.

First solution: Force your Galaxy A6 2018 to restart.

A force restart is the simplest recommended solution to unfreeze a frozen device. It works the same as the usual reboot or soft reset does without affecting any data on the internal memory. It forces all errant apps running in the background, which might have prevented the phone system from carrying out its normal routine and so it crashes and gets stuck on black screen instead. Third solution: Boot into safe mode and diagnose apps.

Safe mode puts your device in a diagnostic state, allowing you to determine if a third-party app is inflicting the problem. This is an alternative method to the usual soft reset or device restart. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Power button until the phone vibrates and the Samsung logo appears then release the Power button.
  2. With the Samsung Galaxy logo still on screen, press the Volume Down button.
  3. Keep holding the Volume Down button until Safe Mode appears in the lower-left corner of the Home screen or lock screen.
  4. You can release the Volume button by then.

While your phone is running in safe mode, you can test the device and app functionality.

If the problem does not occur in safe mode, then a third-party app is to blame. You may need to delete the most recent apps you’ve downloaded individually until you get rid of the culprit.

Fourth solution: Wipe cache partition on your Galaxy A6 2018.

Temporary files and data that are stored as cache in the system folders or partition can also cause the same problem when these files get corrupted. To rule this out, wiping the cache partition on your phone can help. Aside from clearing errant cached files, it also helps refresh the phone’s internal memory for better and smoother performance.   1. With your device powered off, press and hold the Power, Home and Volume Up buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
  2. Release the buttons when the Android screen appears and the phone loads in Recovery mode.
  3. Press the Volume Down button several times to scroll to and highlight Wipe Cache Partition from the given options then press the Power button to confirm selection.
  4. Wait until the phone has finished wiping cache from the system partition. You will then see the Reboot system now option highlighted.
  5. To restart your device, press the Power button.

Wait until your phone successfully boots up. If it’s able to boot up and working stable again, then you’re good. But if not, then you may need to wipe everything out from the internal disk drive of your device with the next solution.

Fifth solution: Reset your Galaxy A6 2018 in recovery mode.

If your device is still acting up and stuck on black screen of death after performing all applicable solutions, then your last resort would be a master reset through recovery mode. This will reset your device and wipe everything off from the internal memory including corrupted data that caused the system to malfunction.

Note: If possible, do not attempt to install unapproved software, or a custom OS because a custom recovery will void your warranty.

Start whenever you’re ready:

  1. With your device powered off, press and hold the Power, Home and Volume Up buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.

If none of these works and your Galaxy A6 2018 smartphone is still stuck on black screen of death, then you’ve got no choice but service.
