Facebook no longer notifies after an update on Samsung Galaxy S9 (easy fix)
Facebook comes pre-installed on your Samsung Galaxy S9 and you need root access to remove it. The app is set to notify users if there are new posts or messages unless, of course, you turn the notification off. Some of our readers, however, reported that Facebook no longer show notification and it reportedly started after the recent firmware update. We have received several reports like this and we are compelled to do our own research but it seems like it’s not an issue with the firmware as it’s not widespread.
In this post, we will try to address this problem and have to do some basic troubleshooting to make Facebook show notifications. We will try to rule out every possibility and determine what the problem is so that we can formulate a solution to fix the issue for good. If you’re one of the owners of this phone and are currently having similar problems, continue reading as this article may be able to help you one way or another.
Before anything else though, if you have other issues with your device, then visit our troubleshooting page for we have already addressed several common problems with this phone. How to fix Facebook that doesn’t show notification on Galaxy S9
This is just a minor problem and one of the procedures below should be able to fix this issue. Try to see what works for you and what not. Good luck!
Reboot your phone first – it’s a very simple procedure but if you haven’t done so after the problem started, you should because may save you from a lot of trouble. You may also like to try the forced restart which is more effective than the normal reboot. If the problem continues after this, then move on to the next procedure.
Make sure notification is turned for Facebook – if, for some reason, the notification for Facebook was turned off, then that explains why you aren’t notified for new posts or messages. Being one of the pre-installed apps that allow instant messaging, it has its own notification settings. All you need to do is find out if it’s turned off or not. If it is and notifications are still not showing, then try the next procedure.
Reset Facebook – this will reset the app only and you won’t lose your important files and data if you did this. None of your posts in your timeline as well as private messages will not be deleted. In other words, it’s safe but very effective as it brings the app back to its default settings and configuration as well as delete its caches and data files that may have been corrupted and the cause of this problem.
Wipe cache partition – it’s also possible that some of the caches have been corrupted or became obsolete and resulted to this problem. It’s also safe to do for both your phone and your files as only the caches will be deleted and replaced. All you need to do is run your phone in recovery mode and wipe cache partition from there. If the problem continues after doing this, then you have no other choice but to do the next procedure.
Backup your files and reset your phone – this is the ultimate solution to any app-related problems and I’m certain that this problem will be fixed by doing this. The thing is that we are always hesitant to suggest this procedure as you may lose some of your important files and data but since you have no other choice, you have to make sure you make a backup of your important files and data before you reset the device.
