What to do with Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus that went completely dead and won’t turn on (easy steps)

If your Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus dies or turns off on its own without apparent reason and won’t turn back on, it’s probably just a firmware crash and it’s a minor problem that you can fix on your own as long as you know what to do. There are also times when you leave the phone charging overnight that when you wake up in the morning, the screen is black and phone won’t respond. Don’t panic because there’s always something you can do about this.

In this article, I will share with you the solution that we’ve always been using to fix similar problems. I understand that this issue could also be serious especially if the problem affects the hardware but as long as your device hasn’t been dropped on a hard surface or got submerged in water for a very long time, then there’s always a chance that you can fix it. You have to do something and if you can’t make it to start again, then you still have the option to bring it to the store or shop. Read on to know how to fix this issue.

I can only offer you a couple of solutions and these are the ones that we’ve been using to address similar issues like black screen of death and other firmware related concerns. Try to see if they will work for you…

First solution: Forced reboot

More often than not, if a phone turns off and no longer turns on, it’s a problem with the firmware and that might be the case with your Galaxy S9 Plus. I understand that it may no longer respond when you press the power key or any buttons but you can still consider it a minor problem and doing the forced reboot may fix it.

Press and hold the volume down button and power key at the same time for 10 seconds or more. This is more than enough to fix the problem ub tif the device doesn’t respond to this, try doing it a couple of more time and if it still not, then try this.

  1. Press and hold the volume down button first and don’t release it yet.
  2. Now press and hold the power key while holding down the volume down button.
  3. Keep both keys held for 10 seconds or more.

It’s basically the same as the first procedure only that we’re making sure this time that the volume down button is pressed before the power key because doing otherwise won’t give you the same result.

Alternative solution: Charge phone and the force restart it

It’s possible the battery got completely drained and because of that the firmware may have crashed instead of turning the device off properly. When this happens, you already have two problems in one package but the thing is your phone won’t respond nor turns on if this is the case because there’s no battery and worse, the device won’t even charge. This is what you need to do about it:

  1. Plug the charger to a working AC outlet.
  2. Using the original cable, connect your phone to its charger.
  3. Regardless whether the phone shows it’s charging or not, leave it connected to its charger for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Now, press and hold the volume down button first and don’t release it yet.
  5. Now press and hold the power key while holding down the volume down button.
  6. Keep both keys held for 10 seconds or more while it’s connected to its charger.

If the problem is the same as what we mentioned earlier, then your phone should already be starting up now. However, if the device is still not responding after this, then it’s time you brought it back to the store and have it checked by a technician or negotiate a replacement.
