What to do if your Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is stuck on the logo and won’t boot up (easy steps)
When it comes to boot problems, the firmware has always something to do with them and that’s a fact. The most common signs is when the phone cannot continue booting up and is stuck on the logo. Such is the case with some of our readers that own the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. Some of them said that prior to the problem, they actually noticed their phones to be working slowly or had poor performance. Others, however, reported that the problem just occurred without any obvious reason; their phones reportedly turned off and when they tried turning them on, they got stuck on the logo.
This problem has also happened to previous Galaxy models and not just to the Galaxy S9 Plus. In fact, we’ve already addressed similar issues in the past so don’t be surprised if you can find similar posts in our blog because this is one of the most commonly reported problems for both the Galaxy S7 and S8. If you’re one of the owners of this phone and are currently having similar problem, then continue reading as this post may be able to help you one way or another.

How to fix your Galaxy S9 Plus that’s stuck on the logo
As long as the firmware hasn’t been modified in any way, this problem is pretty easy to fix and I will share with you the solution below or, at least, things you can do to try and fix it. However, if this problem started after rooting or installing a custom ROM, then you just have to re-flash the stock firmware to make your phone run normally again. But assuming that this problem started on its own without any obvious reason or cause, here’s what you can do about it:
First solution: Do the Forced Reboot
There are times when glitches happen and one of the most common results is this. Fortunately, such issues are pretty minor and temporary that even a reboot can actually fix them. However, after trying to reboot your phone and it’s still stuck on the logo, then you should try the Forced Reboot. It’s the equivalent of battery pull and it will refresh your phone’s memory by simulating battery disconnect which will reload all apps, services and core functions.
- Press and hold the volume down button and the power key at the same time for 10 seconds or more.
This will reboot the phone normally and if it actually does boot up successfully after this, then problem solved. If it’s still stuck on the logo, then try doing the next solution.

Second solution: Try rebooting the phone in safe mode
It is possible that this problem has been caused by a third-party app that’s why it’s important you try running the phone in safe mode to temporarily disable all third-party applications. If the device successfully boots up in this mode, then our suspicion is confirmed. The next thing you must do is find the app that’s causing the problem and uninstall it. Here’s how you do those things…
How to boot Galaxy S9 Plus in Safe mode
- Turn the device off.
- Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
- When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
- Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
- Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
- When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.
How to uninstall apps from your phone
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Apps.
- Tap the desired application in the default list.
- To display preinstalled apps, tap Menu > Show system apps.
- Tap UNINSTALL > OK.
If your phone is still stuck on the logo while trying to start it up in safe mode, try the next solution.
Third solution: Start the phone up in Recovery mode
Even if your phone has some serious firmware-related issues, it may still be able to run in Recovery mode because it’s the fail-safe for Android devices, so I want you to try this one. If successful, you should try wiping the cache partition and if the problem is still not fixed after doing that, then you must do the Master reset.
How to run Galaxy S9 Plus in Recovery Mode and wipe cache partition
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
- An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
Your phone will take a little time booting up after the cache partition is wiped off of its contents as it will rebuild or recreate those caches. Don’t be alarmed if the phone gets stuck on the logo for a minute or two after this just don’t turn it off so that what were deleted will be replaced successfully. So, wait for your Galaxy S9 to become active.
How to boot Galaxy S9 Plus in Recovery Mode and do the Master Reset
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
- Press Power button to select.
