What to do if your LG G7 ThinQ keeps rebooting randomly (easy steps)

How to fix LG G7 ThinQ that keeps rebooting by itself
Unless there’s a clear indication that your phone has physical and/or liquid damage, random reboot problems are often firmware-related issues and you can actually fix them on your own without any help from a tech. The following are the things you can do to make your G7 ThinQ work perfectly again without all those random reboots…
First solution: Run your phone in safe mode
It is important that you determine if third party applications play a hand in this problem. There are apps that can actually make your phone act like crazy and if that’s the case, then you can fix this problem easily.
In safe mode, all third parties are temporarily disabled so if the phone doesn’t reboot on its own while your phone is in this mode, then it confirms that there’s a third party app that’s causing the issue. The next thing you should do if find out which app it is and uninstall it. This is how you run your device in safe mode:
- While your phone is on, press and hold the Power button until the menu options are displaced.
- Press and hold Power off option.
- When prompted to Restart in Safe Mode, tap OK to continue.
- Wait until your phone restarts and boots into safe mode.
An indication that it has entered safe mode is the Safe Mode label shown at the bottom of the screen. At this point, use your device as you normally do. Finding the app that’s causing the problem could be a bit of a challenge but that should be done in order to fix the issue.
However, if the phone still reboots randomly while in safe mode, then you must try the next procedure.
Second solution: Manage internal storage
To get started with memory management, view the current memory status of your LG G7 ThinQ with these steps:
- Tap Settings from the Home screen.
- Go to the General tab.
- Tap Memory.
- Tap the drop-down arrow and select the preferred interval.
- Check the amount of Free storage.
If the available storage space is lower than 1GB, then you’ll need to free up memory space.
Third solution: Update firmware
Make sure your phone’s firmware is up-to-date. If you haven’t updated it recently, then you may have already missed a couple of updates. Take time updating the system and see if this fixes the problem.
- Tap Settings from the Home screen.
- Go to the General tab.
- Tap Update center.
- Tap System update.
- Then tap the option to Check for update.
- Follow the rest of the onscreen instructions to download and install the latest software update. Your device must be connected to Wi-Fi Internet, has ample battery life, and memory space to proceed.
Alternatively, you can download and install new software update on your LG G7 ThinQ from a computer. To get this done, you will need to download, install and open the compatible software for the LG G7 ThinQ to your PC beforehand.
Fourth solution: Wipe cache partition
If there are corrupt system cache, your phone may also act up like this so it’s a possibility you need to rule out. You can do that by wiping the cache partition of your LG G7 ThinQ. Don’t worry, none of your files and data will be deleted if you did this…
- Tap Settings from the Home screen.
- Select the General tab.
- Tap Storage then select Internal storage.
- Wait for the menu options to populate.
- Tap the option to Free up space.
- Tap Temporary files & raw files.
- Select any from the given options including Cached data, Clip tray temporary files, and Raw files from camera.
- Tap Delete twice to confirm.
If it continues to reboot by itself after this, then you have no other choice but to reset it.
Fifth solution: Backup your files and reset your LG G7 ThinQ
This is your last resort if everything else failed to fix the problem. If the issue is with the firmware, then a reset may be able to fix it but make sure you backup your important files and data especially ones that are saved in your phone’s internal storage as they will be deleted.
- Back up all data on the internal memory before performing a master reset.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
- When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
- When the ‘Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings’ message appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
- Press the Power button to reset the device.
If the problem continues after the reset and you’re pretty sure it’s not with your network devices, then you should just bring the phone back to the store or to the shop so that a technician will take care of the problem. If it’s a widespread problem, the store may immediately replace your unit.
