Quick fix for Oppo R11s that no longer powers on
There’s one thing that we know works if the phone became unresponsive without apparent reason or cause. Don’t worry though because none of your files and data will be deleted if you followed the simple procedure below.
Now, based on experience, a power problem like this, while it may seem like a complicated one, may actually be a result of a system crash. When it happens, your device will surely be frozen that it won’t even respond to its charger. To rule this possibility out, here’s what you should do…
- Press and hold both the Volume Up and Power keys for 10 seconds.
If the problem was indeed due to a system crash, then it should boot up normally after doing such procedure–it’s actually called Forced Restart–and that may be the end of the problem. However, it may occur again in the future but at least, you already know what to do.
If your Oppo R11s won’t respond to it, try doing it a few times but this time try pressing and holding the Volume Up button first and without letting go of it, press and hold the Power key. Keep both buttons held together for 10 seconds. After a few attempts and the phone remain unresponsive, then move on to our troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting Oppo R11s that won’t respond to Forced Restart
Bear in mind that the purpose of this troubleshooting guide is to help you determine the problem and provide suggestions on what to do just to have a shot at fixing the issue. However, there’s no guarantee that we can fix the problem on our own but don’t let it stop you from doing something that might just bring your phone back to life. With all that being said, here’s what I suggest you do about this issue:
Make sure it’s not due to liquid damage
The Oppo R11s doesn’t have the IP67 or IP68 rating which means it’s not water-resistant let alone waterproof. As the owner, you should be the first one to know if the phone got splashed with or dipped in water because if so, then it’s almost certain that the reason why it’s not turning on anymore is due to liquid damage.
To check for water damage, this is what you need to do…
- Look into the USB port to know if there are droplets there.
- Use a cotton swab to clean the area or insert a piece of tissue paper to absorb the moist.
If you positively know that your phone hasn’t touched water then, move on to the next step. However, if you think this problem is due to liquid damage, bring the phone to the service center immediately so Oppo tech can take the phone’s components apart and get it cleaned up.
Try charging your Oppo R11s
It’s possible that the battery got drained that’s why your phone isn’t responding. After verifying there’s no sign of liquid damage, plug the charger to the wall outlet and then connect your phone to it using the original cable. Regardless whether your device is showing the charging symbol on the screen or not, leave it plugged in for ten minutes. After which, try turning it on and if it still won’t respond, do the Forced Restart again but this time while the phone is connected to its charger.
It’s imperative that you do this procedure because it’s also possible that the firmware crashed just when the power was running out. Remember, in a situation wherein the battery is running out, the phone will be turned off but it wouldn’t be a proper shutdown. So some hardware may be turned off first than others and complications may arise due to this.
However, if the phone is still not turning on after doing this, then it’s time to bring the phone to the service center as it could be an issue with the firmware.
You may also try booting your Oppo R11s in safe mode or recovery mode to know if it would still boot up in these modes. This would give you an assurance that the hardware is fine but it’s all up to you.
How to run Oppo R11s in Safe mode
- Press and hold to Power key.
- When “Oppo” logo is displayed, release the key On.
- Immediately after releasing the Power key, hold the key Volume down .
- Keep holding down the Volume Down key until the phone finishes rebooting.
- Release the key Volume down when you see Safe Mode appear in the lower left corner of the screen.
