How To Fix Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G Can’t Send Text Messages

The first thing you will need to do is to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version before doing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it. This will at least minimize the possibility of the problem being caused by an outdated software version.

Make sure you are in an area with a good network signal

There are certain areas where your carrier will not have any reception at all. When you happen to be in this area you won’t be able to make calls or send text messages. To verify if this is a coverage related issue you should check if your phone is getting a good signal. You should also check if other devices under the same network are also having the same problem in your immediate vicinity to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a network outage.

Perform a soft reset

Sometimes the temporary data stored in the phone can become corrupted which can lead to this type of problem. If this is the case then you will need to refresh your phone software. This can be done by restarting the phone which should eliminate any corrupt temporary data in the device. This step will also reset the phone connection to the network which is recommended in this case.

  • Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  • While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  • Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy Note 10 logo shows on the screen.

Check your SIM card

There’s a possibility that the problem is caused by an issue with the SIM card. If this is a SIM card related problem then you can try to fix this by turning off the phone and removing the SIM card. Wait for a few minutes before reinserting the SIM card back then turn on the phone. Check if the issue still occurs.

I also recommend that you try using a different SIM card in your phone to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a defective SIM card.

If this is an account related problem, such as when you have run out of credits, then you should contact your carrier regarding this matter.

Clear the cache and data of the messaging app

Sometimes the data stored in the messaging app can get corrupted which can lead to this problem. To make sure that this isn’t what’s causing the problem you will have to clear the cache and data of the messaging app.

  • From the Home screen, slide down the notification panel.
  • Tap the ‘gear icon’ to open Settings.
  • On the settings menu, tap Apps.
  • You will see the list of apps installed on your device.
  • Choose the Messaging app.
  • Tap Storage.
  • Tap ‘clear data’.
  • Tap ‘OK’ to confirm.
  • Then, go back to the home screen.

Check if the problem occurs in Safe Mode

There’s a possibility that an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store can cause this problem. To check if this is the case, you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Bixby key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
  • When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Bixby key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.
  • While in Safe mode, you can now uninstall apps that are causing a problem

If you are able to send and receive a text message in this mode then the problem could be  caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
  • An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  • Press Bixby / Power key to select.
