S9 Does Stuck In Samsung Screen After Software Update
Problem: So, my problem is that I by accident pressed button to update software even I did not want it. Now, after 5-6 hours my phone won’t turn on. It only says samsung. I tried to turn it on again, and I succeeded, but even after that is only on that screen when turning on and saying samsung. Is there maybe any way to make it work or is there only change to making it work by sending it to repair.
Solution: There are instances when the phone will get stuck in the Samsung logo after a software update. This is usually caused by a software glitch which can easily be fixed by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. If the issue still occurs after performing a step then proceed to the next one.
- Remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed.
- Try pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
- Try starting the phone in Safe Mode. If you are able to access this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Stuck In Reboot Loop
Problem: Hi Chad,I read your article regarding the S9 and followed your instructions for fixing the endless reboot loop. No combination I do allows me to access Factory Reset (it never shows up), rather, I first get a limited options screen and when I do the second round, you suggested I get a No Command Screen. Both my wife and I have S9 but only hers has this issue. I’d be happy to send you screenshots if you deem it worthwhile. I once had a similar problem with a Samsung tablet and I had to open it myself, disconnect the battery and reconnect it and I was then able to bring it back to life. I’d rather not do this again myself. What are your thoughts? Can a phone really die like this?
Solution: Right now the best thing that you can do is to first charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger. Once the phone has sufficient charge remove the microSD card ( if your phone has one installed) then start the device in recovery mode.
To boot in recovery mode
- Press and hold the power button to turn off your Galaxy S9.
- After turning your phone off, press and hold Bixby button (right below the volume keys), Volume Up, and Power button at the same time.
- You will see a blue screen (it’s not of death!), which will say “installing system update” followed by “No command.”
- After about 20 to 30 seconds, your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9+ will show you the Recovery menu.
From here you need to do a factory reset. Take note that this reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Screen Is Black But Phone Is Working
Problem: Hello I got a s galaxy S9 and I don’t know much about prior condition but now it has few issues. The first is that screen won’t turn on or even flicker. Tried all key combination but no luck. It powers up and I can hear the camera sound If I press vol. down button but that’s all. Computer recognize phone but it’s locked. Screen and glass are intact as it seams. There are few scratches on housing but nothing dramatic and away from screen. Is it possible that display is just dead and there is no other solution than replacing it? Thanks in advance
Solution: It looks like the display of the phone is damaged. You can verify this further by starting the phone in recovery mode. If the display works in this mode then the problem might just be caused by a software glitch. You will then need to do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the screen remains black even in recovery mode then I suggest that you bring the phone to a service center and have it repaired.
S9 Randomly Turning Off
Problem: I am traveling in Spain so have had my cellular shut off for the past 2 weeks. I am using wifi whenever it is available. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 which keeps shutting down after about 3 minutes of non-use, where I have to do a soft reboot each time I need to turn it on. Any idea what I can do to prevent it from totally shutting down where I have to do a reboot?
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If your phone has a microSD card then I suggest that you remove it. Do not install any apps in your phone after the reset instead try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
