S9 Not Receiving Text Message From One Contact

Problem: So a week ago around 1pm I was not able to receive texts from my friend I can text him also can ring him as he can ring me but I don’t receive from him, after both of us contacting our providers (both different providers) they both asked us to do a few things simple things like delete each other’s numbers and text each other manually typing in number, also removing SIM and reinstall, getting a new SIM, still can’t receive texts from him then we thought maybe it was the software update we had day before so we factory reset our phones still nothing so we thought completely restarting the phone from new, still nothing, our providers are just saying after checking our numbers they don’t see a problem but something is wrong one of our phones must be faulty. I hope you can help us we both have Samsung galaxy s9. Thank you

Solution: This is quite a tricky issue as you have already performed most of the troubleshooting steps required for this particular problem.

Have you tried asking your friend to text you using a different SIM card inserted in their S9? This way you can check if the problem is network related or is caused by your phone blocking their number. You should also check if their number is blocked in your phone.

If the problem still persists and since you have already performed a factory reset on your phone then I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.

S9 Not Seeing Own Text Message

Problem: Hi, my new Galaxy s9 has been great, but once I started using messages, it won’t register my message on my screen that I have sent but the person that I am texting does. I do receive notifications of the person’s texts but I can’t see mine that I have sent. So, eventually I just get a series of replies from the other sender.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from your phone. This way you can check if the issue is caused by some corrupt data in the messaging app. In case the problem still persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S9 Not Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Hi, I have had an issue with my Samsung S9 since this morning, this actually happens to me every few days and I have no idea why. Since this morning I have not received text messages from 3 people, they are not blocked either. I can only receive picture messages, texts don’t come through but these people receive my texts just fine. These 3 people are with Telus, I am with Rogers so we don’t have the same carrier. I have restarted my phone, deleted conversations, and nothing seems to be working yet. I have contacted my carrier and they have opened a ticket but i have to wait about 3 days. What else can I do?

Solution: If their number is not blocked from your phone then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below. Immediately check if the issue occurs after performing a step. In case the problem persists then proceed to the next step.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the problem occurs in this mode. In case it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
