A3 Battery Drains Fast Even If Off
Problem: Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy A3 . The phone was purchased 10/2017 and has always worked great with only needing to be charged every few days. Just recently I have experienced problems. I can charge the phone to 100%, take it off the charge and within an hour the battery is completely depleted-the phone won’t even turn back on. I plug it in and after awhile it will start charging. Last night I charged the phone to 98% and then powered it off overnight. When I tried to turn it back on-the battery was once again drained. Now, if I want to use the phone it has to stay plugged in basically all the time. What are your thoughts?
Solution: There’s a possibility that this is already caused by a faulty hardware component. This could be a faulty battery, bad power IC, or a shorted circuit. You can however troubleshoot this and check if other factors are involved by following the steps listed below.
- If the phone has a microSD card then try removing this card. A corrupted card can usually cause this kind of problem so its best to eliminate this possibility.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
A3 Recovering Data When Off
Problem: Samsung Galaxy A3 – unit had 30% on battery and went dead. Tried to reset by doing a soft reset then restarting and no luck. Tried to have the battery replaced, still no luck. If the power button is pushed, the unit will (occasionally) vibrate and Samsung logo will appear for a second or 2. After that it disappears. Is there any way to get data off of the unit?
Solution: If your phone is off then you won’t be able to retrieve any data stored in it. You will want to make sure that the phone turns off first. Since you have already replaced the battery and the issue still persists then there’s another factor that could be causing the problem. While this is most likely a hardware related issue already you should try the following steps listed below and check if it fixes the problem.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger. If you don’t see any charging indicator then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
- Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to have this checked at a service center.

A3 Charges Slowly After Software Update
Problem: Ever since the last update my phone will charge slowly. I’ve tried numerous Chargers wires and it’s the same results. Also I noticed Facebook I stopped running pops up all the time. The battery seems like it’s draining more. Also seems like it’s running slower and laggy
Solution: For this particular issue you should try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then check if the issue still occurs. If it does and since this occurred right after a software update then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset as the problem could be caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process.
