Samsung Galaxy S8+ No LTE Connection After Software Update Issue & Other Related Problems

Welcome to another installment of our troubleshooting series where we aim to help our readers who own the #Samsung #Galaxy #S8+ fix the issues that they are experiencing with their phone. This particular model is the current flagship phone of the company that sports a 6.2 inch Super AMOLED display. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8+ no LTE connection after software update issue & other related problems.

S8+ No LTE Connection After Software Update

Problem: I purchased a used galaxy s8+ Verizon branded a couple months ago.  Model G9550U.  I moved it over to Straight Talk using a sim card from ST.  It all worked fine, LTE connection and all.  No system upgrades were ever available so I downloaded the software upgrade assistant from Verizon.  It upgraded once in December without issue.  Late in December, there was another upgrade but this one has some issues.  It converted the system to Tracfone and removed the Verizon system and apps.  It seemed to function except that the best connection available was 3G.  I’ve spent hours online with the ST reps and their best advice was to factory default the phone.  I’ve done that twice this week but it still won’t do LTE.  My options under connections are LTE/CDMA and CDMA.  Select the 1st and there is no network connection.  Select CDMA and I get 3G.  There was no warning or indication that a new vendor operating system was being installed, just happened!  My son has a S8 Verizon model and a December update moved his over to Tracfone too.  Eventually the LTE began functioning on his but so far, not on mine.

Solution: I suggest that you try checking the APN settings of your phone as this might have changed during the software update. For Straight Talk you should try the APN settings listed below.

  • Name: STRAIGHT TALK (or just any name you would like to use)
  • APN: tfdata
  • Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
  • Port: <Leave in Blank>
  • Username: <Leave in Blank>
  • Password: <Leave in Blank>
  • Server: <Leave in Blank>
  • MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
  • MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
  • MMS port: 80
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 410
  • Authentication type: <Leave in Blank>
  • APN type: default,supl,mms
  • APN Protocol: Leave it to the Default one

S8+ Photos Transferred To microSD Card Cannot Be Accessed

Problem: After transferring all my photos to my sd card so i can have more space on my phone i lost all my photos ! None of my honeymoon photos or holiday photos will open this is ridiculous i tried putting them back on my phone and the same thing happened i want my photos back ! How do i get them back and avoid this issue from happening again please i need to fix this problem i need the photos back for personal reasons

Solution: It looks like the microSD card you are using on your phone has some corrupt sectors making the photos inaccessible. Try removing this card from the phone then connect it to your computer. You will need a card reader to perform this step. If the photos remain inaccessible then the files have been corrupted. You can try using a recovery software to recovery these photos however this doesn’t usually work.

I suggest that you replace the microSD card you are using so as to avoid any issues such as this in the future.

S8+ Screen Is Black With Blue Blinking LED Light

>

Problem: Hello, I have a Galaxy S8+ I only had it for 3 weeks now. I had it on charge while i was asleep and when i got up to unplug it and noticed it had a blue blinking light on. It was powered on when i plugged it up before i went to bed. What does the blue blinking light indicate and how can i turn my phone back on?

Related Problem: The screen is black but when you press volumes buttons etc.the phone still responds as if it was on. I have tried all the examples, but the Samsung logo still will not appear on the screen it stays black

Solution: This issue is often called the black screen of death and happens seldomly on Android phones. While this may look like a serious problem it can usually be fixed by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try force rebooting your phone. This is done by pressing and holding both the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
  • Try checking if an app is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the phone works in this mode then an app you downloaded could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode. From here you will need to perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8+ Freezes Unresponsive

Problem: Totally frozen. Not responding to any of the reset procedures (soft and hard). Charging of battery also not responding, no light indicator. Phone is like new. was working perfectly when suddenly it switched off then tried by itself to start 2 or 3 times before switching off and becoming totally unresponsive. Further to me informing you that my Samsung S8+ was unfrozen it again froze several times. At times I was able to restart using at times soft restart other times hard restart.

To prevent the problem I deleted recently installed apps.

It froze when screen capture using hand swipe was used.

At present it is completely frozen and does not even register connection to the charger. It froze during a phone call as it had also done once earlier. Does it think with the phone held to the ear that a series of screen capture swipes are being executed which may overload the memory?  Please help. I have only used Samsung phones and tablets to date. Do you think switching to apple would reduce the likelihood of freezing

Solution: The best way to troubleshoot this problem is to check if this is caused by a software glitch. Remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed. If the issue still occurs then start your phone in recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

In case the issue persists then this might already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8+ Not Connecting To Mobile Data Network

Problem: Hi, i have an issue with my S8+ not being able to connect to the network, which is ultra mobile. I can call and text just fine, but my phone can’t connect to the network, so i can’t use the internet. There’s always an exclamation point next to the signal bars, however, this issue doesn’t occur while i’m connected to wifi; the exclamation point disappears. The problem with when it’s connected to wifi is i can’t receive mms messages on my phone. It always tells me to download the message, then it just says downloading without actually downloading the message.

Solution: It’s very likely that the problem is caused by an incorrect APN set in your phone.

For Ultra Mobile the APN settings are as follows.

  • Name: Ultra
  • APN: wholesale
  • Proxy: blank
  • Port: 8080
  • Username & Password: blank
  • Server: blank
  • MMS: http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
  • MMS Proxy: blank
  • MMS Port: blank
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 260
  • Authentication Type: blank
  • APN Type: default,supl,mms
