S2 Will Not Start

Problem: I charged my phone last night. This morning the blue light was on and blinking once a second.  I pressed the power on key and it would not respond. I have tried other batteries with no luck. Then I tried them with my charger plugged in – no luck. Then I tried them with the phone plugged into my computer – no luck. Also I notice it’s not going back into charging mode (red light on) with any of the battery juggling I’m doing. Also I don’t have the original USB computer/charge cable. Or at least I don’t know which of my cables is the right one. Somehow my phone must have recognized that I was looking at my Sprint store to get new phone, and it decided to go belly up on me. Please help. I’m desperate to retrieve my data, contacts, and photos of my grandchildren.

Solution: Try to check the charging port of your phone for any signs of dirt or lint. This usually interferes with the charging process. Clean the port using a toothpick or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Once you have made sure that the charging port is free of any dirt or debris the next step is to try to use another USB cord when charging your phone. These cords break easily and if you are using one that is broken you won’t be able to charge your phone.

You should also try to use another wall charger when charging your phone. Let it charge for at least 20 minutes then try to turn on your phone.

The only way to easily retrieve the data in your phone is if it is turned on. If you still can’t turn on your phone then ty to check if your phone has a microSD card installed and check if it has any data stored in it. There’s a chance that your photos are stored in this card.

If the problem still persist then you will have to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S2 Battery Drains Quickly

Problem: I am having Samsung S2 phone. Now after Full charge and after disconnection of plug it gives “CLIK CLIK” sound and shows Charging Paused Voltage Too high. During the time Battery drains quickly and battery symbol also blinks. Within one hour battery drains off. Phone is also getting heating up. Kindly help me out. The phone works nicely. The sound will be every 10 seconds.

Solution: The “Charging paused. Voltage too high” error message is common occurrence on this model.  It could be a false error where the software of your phone believes that the voltage is too high when it is really not. It could also be that the voltage is really too high.

The first thing that you will want to do is to back up your phone data and do a factory reset to eliminate any software related glitches.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold both Volume Up and Volume Down keys at the same time.
  • Press the Power key only until the phone vibrates once, then release only the Power key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume up and Volume Down keys until the Android System Recovery screen appears.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight wipe data / factory reset.
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight Yes – Delete all user data.
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Power key to reboot.

If the issue persists then turn off your phone and clean the charging port with a toothbrush dipped in alcohol. The port may have dirt or lint in it which causes the problem.

You should also consider using a new wall charger and battery.

S2 Stuck In Set Up Screen

Problem: Galaxy s2 reset to factory settings, no problem getting in boot menu using menu key, volume and power button but now freezes on start up at set up screen. Can’t even get to home/lock screen.

Solution: Try to do another round of factory reset. This time make sure your phone does not have a microSD installed.

If the problem persists then either the phone software is corrupt or the phone is not recognizing your touch input. See if you can make any touch based input during the time your phone starts and the time the set up screen appears to check if the phone digitizer is still working properly.

If the issue persists then you can either have the display of your phone checked at an authored service center or you can reflash your phone software.

S2 Stuck In Samsung Logo Screen

Problem: Hi, I have a Samsung S2 which has worked fine till last night. I charged it fully and turned it on. It goes from the first screen up to the SAMSUNG screen but stops there when it normally goes to the password screen and then I would be on. I believe I have some photos saved on the phone rather than the sd card. What shall I do? Thank you.

Solution: What you will want to do first is to take out the phone battery and microSD card. With the battery out, press and hold the power button for at least a minute to drain the phone of any residual charge. Reinsert the battery but leave the microSD out. Check if your phone turns on.

If the phone is still stuck on the Samsung screen then proceed with wiping the cache partition. This does not delete your data such as photos, music, or contacts.

  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Home or Power key to select.
  • Make sure Reboot System Now is highlighted and press the Home (or Power key) to reboot.

S2 Only Works When Connected To Charger

Problem: HI, recently my samsung s2 device shuts down automatically without warning when i unplug it from the charger. When i tried to turn it on again. it shows the model number etc. and then shuts down cold again. This happens even with 100% battery and i can only use the phone when its plug to the charger. Please help

Solution: It looks like your phone battery may already be defective. Try getting a new battery and see if this resolves the problem.
