How To Fix Samsung Galaxy A6 Only Charges From Computer USB Port

Problem: Having charging issues with my A6 –no indication of charging on screen and no charging being done. Sent phone to Samsung and they replaced  1-Jack-Micro-USB,2 -Inner Battery Pack, and 3- ASSY LCD. BUT- phone continues to not charge with no indication. HOWEVER, when I plug it into my computer, using the USB port it fully charged–although the screen had an incomplete circular arc with 100% displayed in the center?(now that I started the phone it is showing 67% charged) So Odd–you’d think the circle would be a complete one. I also had the experience of this phone accepting a charge when in my car using the USB plug-in to my cigarette lighter. Anyway–I’d changed all my USB cords and have 5 different charging plugs–all of which will not charge the phone from any wall outlet. I just want this thing to function properly and I’m still within the warranty period to annoy Samsung to do right by this instrument. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Solution: If your phone only charges from a computer USB port and not from a wall charger then it’s likely that one of the pins of the charging port is faulty or the power IC of the phone is not functioning properly. To fix this issue you should perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.

Clean the phone charging port

Sometimes dirt or debris stuck in the charging port can block the contact of one of the port pins to the USB cord. Clean the port using a can of compressed air to remove any presence of foreign particles.

Use a different charging cord

There are instances when the charging cord that you are using is already faulty. Replace this cord with a new one to check if this is what’s causing the problem

Use a different wall charger

To eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a faulty wall charger you should try using a new one.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. You should have this fixed or replaced with a new one since it is still under warranty.
