Note 4 Shuts Off With Battery Power Left
Problem: When my battery percentage reaches in the 50s (not while using any specific app or the internet etc) phone shuts off and won’t turn back on until I plug it in. Then it when I do plug it in, it shows around 40% or so. I have replaced the battery, done a soft reset, cleared the cache, deleted several apps, done a factory reset, and it still has the issue.
Solution: Since you already replaced the phone battery with a new one we can eliminate this as causing the problem. We can also eliminate any software problems that could be causing this issue since you already performed a factory reset. It’s most likely that this problem is caused by some form of hardware component that has failed, most likely the power IC. I suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.
Note 4 Intermittently Charges
Problem: I recently bought a genuine samsung fast charger off ebay it charged to 30% and then stopped and lost power really quickly to 15%. Then wouldn’t charge even with a normal charger, Then it would charge for a few percent then stop and ask you to connect a charger again. Is the battery damaged? or this the charger at fault ? i have order a new battery just waiting for it now. just to add I’ve had no issue using a fast charger the days before or any issue. but have had a recent update change the phone layout
Solution: In cases such as this the first thing that you need to do is to clean the charging port of your phone. This is because the port could have some dirt or debris in it that can affect the charging process. In cleaning the port use a can of compressed air or you can blow into it using a straw. Try to check if the issue disappears.
The next thing you should do it to replace the charging cord used in charging the phone. This cord usually get damaged easily especially if it is coiled or bent constantly.
Another factor that you should not overlook is the phone software. Sometimes a glitch in the software can cause this issue. To check if this is the case you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
One last troubleshooting step you can do is to replace the battery and charger.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should have your phone checked at a service center.
Note 4 Drains Fast Won’t Charge
Problem: Hello. My Note 4 battery drains really fast And won’t charge. The Lightning icon does not appear and I needed to buy a new charger or battery. When I went to the store, the charger seemed to be the problem. Now even when it’s charging, the battery life goes down. I have to put it on battery save mode for it to charge. Sometimes that won’t work. It stays at the same percentage it was before I plugged the charger in. In other words, I am unable to use my phone properly now especially when data is on because it drains rapidly when I do. Please help. Thank you!
Solution: When you got a new charger the phone will not charge however the battery drains very quickly. While I think that this could be caused by a faulty battery you should first check if the phone software is causing this problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. Proceed to the following step should the problem still remain.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the temporary data of your phone which could be causing the problem. Check if the issue still occurs.
- Check if a third party app is causing this issue by starting the phone in Safe Mode. While in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the above steps fail then try replacing the battery with a new one.
Note 4 Battery Dies Fast
Problem: Whenever I charge my phone sometimes when I pull it off the charger it shows like 10% or 40% etc. But not 100%. I plug it back in and It shows 100%. I unplug it and it stays at normal charge levels. But the phone also dies when I have 20% or sometime more battery than that. Seems to only happen when I am watching videos or something. It’s like it doesn’t keep up with real battery percentage. Or the battery is dieing way to fast. But I will get a full day out of battery most of the time.
Solution: By the looks of this issue it seems like it is caused by a faulty battery. You should however check if the phone software is causing this problem before replacing the battery by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still occur.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app you installed could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the above steps fail then it’s time to try a new battery on your phone.
Note 4 Turns Off When Using Apps
Problem: Hi, i have a problem with my Note 4. The phone started to turn off when i used apps that required more battery. But now the phone turns off when its unplugged, then the phone resets, and tries to turn on by itself but it fails. i need to take the battery off and plugged the charger so it turns on, and that’s the only way the phone works, when it’s plugged in
Solution: You could try checking if a corrupt software is causing this problem by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Instead, try checking if the issue still occurs. If it does then try getting a new battery as the battery you have right now could be faulty.
Note 4 Running Hot Drains Battery Fast After Marshmallow Update
Problem: After auto update to Marshmellow, my galaxy note 4 runs very hot and the battery is running down rapidly. Was running fine, until the update. The battery use to last 8 to 10 hrs. now it’s running out after only 4 hrs
Solution: Since your phone software has already been updated to Marshmallow it’s also best to check if there are any new updates for your apps available. An outdated app could cause this problem due to the fact that the app has been optimized to run on Lollipop and not on Marshmallow. This might be the reason why our phone is heating up and the battery doesn’t last long.
If you have already updated all of your phone apps and the issue still remains then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset. This reset deletes any old software data that has not been removed by the update and is most likely causing this problem.
Note 4 Dies With Sufficient Battery Power Left
Problem: Anywhere from 60%-80% power my phone will die while in any app., Instagram or the camera. This has been an issue since before the most recent update. I have factory reset my phone 3 times and changed the battery twice. Nothing has helped.
Solution: Since you have already eliminated the phone software and the battery as a possible cause to this issue the problem could already be hardware related. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 No App Notifications When Phone In Power Saving Mode After Marshmallow Update
Problem: I updated my phone to Marshmallow. I always keep power saving mode on. In lollipop version background data for all app use to work, due to which i was able to receive notification from all apps with power saving mode on. But after updating, I have to go in each app to see respective app notification which is highly irritating as i don’t receive them as and when they are sent to me. Also on notification panel it is always shown without any need. Is there any way it can be removed while it stays on. And i can receive all notification with power saving mode on
Solution: Have you checked if background data is enabled when in power saving mode? You should also check the notification settings of each app and see if it is properly set. To do this go to the Sound & Notifications setting screen. If the issue still occurs you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first.
As for the notification panel it seems like it can’t be removed as several other people are also complaining about this.

By the way, the “form” link doesn’t take me to any form. One thing I noticed about my Note 4 is that the connection points for the battery terminals become dirty, resulting in excessive voltage drop at that point and also heating of the terminals (and hence battery, which destroys the battery). Cleaning the contacts helps to maintain good contact and minimise voltage drops at the battery contacts. Cheers.
