J3 Call Can’t Be Heard

Problem: Hi, I have a 6 month old J3. When I call all I can hear is extreme muffling. I can’t hear someone else’s voice and they cant hear me. It’s not recognising voicemail. It says you have no new messages but I do. Sometimes it won’t even ring and go straight through to voicemail. I took it to an O2 shop and we changed the SIM card but that has not helped either. Thanks

Solution: Changing the SIM is a good way to troubleshoot the problem as you will be able to eliminate any network, SIM, or account related issues that could be causing this. Since the problem still persists then we now have to concentrate the troubleshooting on the phone.

The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to check if the issue is caused by an app you downloaded. For this you will need to start the phone in Safe Mode since only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

J3 Black Screen After Drop

Problem: I dropped my phone and I attempted to open it using the home button but flashed a small strip of color before turning back to a black screen I have tried taking out the battery no luck seems to be operating fine with sounds but the screen is black how do I fix this?

Solution: If the display is black but the phone is working then there’s a possibility that the display got damaged by the drop. The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then check if the display works in this mode. If it does then the problem could just be caused by a software glitch. You will need to perform a factory reset in this mode if this is the case. Take note that your phone data will be erased in the process.

If the above steps fails to work then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s very likely that the display assembly will have to be replaced.

J3 Stuck On Samsung Logo

Problem: Every night I turn my phone off before going to sleep. In the morning I turn it on, it has a code on it to open the screen. The screen is not responsive. I can type in the code but the screen doesn’t open. Then it turns itself off/on again. It takes a good few tries at putting in the code before the screen opens as normal. This has happened the last 3 or 4 days. Today it wouldn’t even turn on to the home screen, it just had black background with the samsung ‘turning on logo’. It wasn’t doing anything so I had to take the battery out and try again. I had to do this 3 or so times before I actually came on and I could access the home screen and use the phone. Please help. My mum suggested leaving my phone on all night, I really don’t want to do this. Do you have any solutions ?

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch by performing the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Remove the microSD card of the phone if one is installed. Restart the phone.
  • Check if the phone can start in Safe Mode. If it starts in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be caused by some faulty hardware component. The best thing that you can do right now is to have the phone checked at a service center.

J3 Touchwiz Home Has Stopped

Problem: Hi today I downloaded an app on my phone. And after I did so. Something popped up saying touchwiz home has stopped. It has done it before and I just powered my phone off and turned it back on. And it would go away and would be fine. But today I did that and it didn’t work. I have looked up different ways to fix the problem and nothing has worked.

Solution: The best thing to do in this particular case is to uninstall the app that you downloaded as this might be causing the problem. In case the issue persists after uninstalling the app then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

J3 Failed MMS Error

Problem: I’ve recently bought a galaxy J3 off of Amazon.com , it was a reconditioned phone from AT&T. The only reason I did that instead of buying a new phone was because I was happy with my old s5, which was unable to charge anymore because the charge port was broke inside. I didn’t want to loose pictures or contacts because I use this phone for my business as well and thought this was the only way and just switch the Sim card. Anyway I can’t send pictures or receive them on text messages, it says failed mms. I’m currently going through straight talk and have for many years, I’ve called them about this but don’t understand what they are saying because of the lack of english. My APN says it’s turned on. Also have a icon that never goes away , it says to download AT&T software update, and I don’t have AT&T

Solution: Because this is an AT&T phone it might not have the correct APN settings to run on the Straight Talk network. What you will want to do in this case is to make sure that the phone is using the correct APN settings which are listed below.

For AT&T Service

  • Name: straight talk
  • APN: tfdata
  • MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
  • MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
  • MMS port: 80
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 410

For T-Mobile Service

  • Name: straight talk
  • APN: wap.tracfone
  • Port: 8080
  • MMSC: http://mms.tracfone.com
  • MMS Proxy:  Leave blank
  • MMS Port: Leave blank

J3 Apps Can’t Move To microSD Card

Problem: Hi, I am currently having some issues with my Samsung Galaxy J3 after using a new samsung evo plus 64gb class 10 U3. When i tried moving from internal to external sd for some of the apps, it would seem that only the application exe file is moved over while leaving behind the downloaded files for the same app which was moved over. I had to manually locate and move the downloaded files still in the internal device storage over to the external sd card. This caused a problem when i tried to open the app, the downloaded files cannot be detected from the sd card. Please advise what might have gone wrong. Thank you.

Solution: There are a lot of apps that you won’t be able to move to the microSD card since they have been designed to run on the internal storage space of the phone. Samsung has also implemented some security measures so that the app data is not easily accessible which can only be done if it stays in the internal storage of the phone.
