Fixing Galaxy A10 that’s stuck on Black Screen of Death
It is important that you take time to check your phone for any signs of physical or liquid damage. As the owner, you should know if the physical state of your phone. If it was dropped or got wet and then this problem started, then there’s no point in troubleshooting it. Just bring it immediately to the store and have the tech check it for you. But assuming there’s no sign of physical or liquid damage, then here’s what you need to do:
First solution: Force restart your phone to fix black screen issue
If this problem occurred without apparent reason or cause, then it’s probably just a system crash. The very first thing you have to do is the forced reboot. It’s a simulated battery removal and very effective in fixing firmware crashes or glitches. In fact, it could be the only thing you need to do to make your phone respond again. Here’s how it’s done:
- Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
- While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
- Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or more.
If the logo shows while you’re holding down the volume down and power keys, then that’s a sign that the problem is fixed. After all, what we’re trying to accomplish here is to make your phone respond. However, if the phone is still stuck on the black screen after the first try, then do the same procedure a few more times before moving on to the next procedure.

Second solution: Charge your Galaxy A10 and do the forced restart
Most of the time, a drained battery isn’t really a problem because any device will immediately respond once a user connects it to the charger that’s plugged into a power source. However, there are times when the phone won’t respond to the charger as well. That’s when the firmware has crashed, which may also occur if you allow the device to run out of battery. It’s because some services and components are not properly shut down when the phone runs out of juice. As a result, you’ll be dealing with a couple of issues that both result in an unresponsive device. To rule this out, here’s what you need to do:
- Plug the charger to a working wall outlet.
- Using the original cable, connect the phone to its charger.
- Regardless of whether the phone shows the charging symbol or not, leave it connected to the charger for at least 10 minutes.
- After which and while the phone is still connected to the charger, press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
- While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
- Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A10 logo shows on the screen.
If you were able to make your phone respond by using either of these two solutions, then the problem is with the firmware. However, if the same problem keeps occurring in the future, consider resetting your phone to get this problem fixed once and for all. Prior to the reset, make sure to create a backup of your important files and then follow these steps as this kind of reset is a bit more through than the usual reset via settings.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
- When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release all three keys.
- Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
On the other hand, if the phone remained stuck on a black screen of death even after this procedure, then it’s time to take that trip back to the store and have the phone checked because it’s a possible hardware issue.
