While the Samsung Galaxy A10 is an entry-level device, it’s actually pretty impressive for its category. Needless to say, it should work without a hitch as long as everything is working properly. However, some owners have reported that their device started to become slow and sluggish. There were those who said that the problem occurred after a minor update, while others said it started without apparent reason or cause.

In this post, I will walk you through in troubleshooting your Galaxy A10 that has some performance issues. We will look into every possibility and rule them out one after another until we can determine what the issue is and hopefully fix it. Troubleshooting a slow and sluggish Galaxy A10

The purpose of this troubleshooting guide is for us to determine why the problem occurs but the best way to do so is by considering every possibility and ruling them out one-by-one. First solution: Force restart your phone

If this is the first time that you noticed your phone to have become so slow and sluggish, then the first thing that you have to do is the Forced Restart. It is very much possible that this problem is caused by some minor firmware issues. Here’s how it’s done:

Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A10 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has finished rebooting, try to see if it’s still slow and sluggish because if it is, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Run your Galaxy A10 in Safe mode

There are times when third-party apps may cause this problem in fact, based on my personal experience, I have installed apps before that immediately resulted in sluggishness although I admit I was using an entry-level device when it happened. The Galaxy A10 has really impressive specs but then there would always come a time that its performance will slow down as it continues to accumulate data from apps.

We need to verify if your apps play a significant role that may have led to this problem that’s why it’s imperative that you run your phone in Safe mode. It temporarily disables all third-party apps and this is how you do it:

Turn the device off.
Press and hold the Power key past the screen with the device name.
When ‘SAMSUNG’ appears on the screen, release the Power key.
Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Release the Volume down key when you see ‘Safe Mode’.

Should the phone run normally in this mode, then it’s confirmed there are third-party apps that cause the problem, here’s what you need to do next:

Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode.
Remember the apps you installed about the time when the phone started to run slow and sluggish.
Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
Scroll to and then tap Apps.
Find and tap suspected app.
Tap Storage.
Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.

On the other hand, if your phone is still slow and sluggish even in safe mode, then move to the next solution.

Third solution: Clear cache and data of sluggish apps

If you still have some apps that still take time in launching, try to reset those apps by clearing their cache and data. Sadly though, you can’t reset them all once so you need to go through them one by one and here’s how you do it:

From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
Tap Settings.
Tap Apps.
Tap the desired application in the default list or tap Menu > Show system apps to display preinstalled apps.
Tap Storage.
Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
Tap Clear cache.

Depending on how many apps have issues, this procedure may take time to finish and after doing this and your Galaxy A10 is still slow and sluggish, proceed to the next procedure.

Fourth solution: Wipe cache partition

After doing procedures that would rule out the possibility that the sluggishness may be due to some applications, it’s time to go after the firmware itself. Another possibility is that some system caches may have been corrupted and we need to rule this out by wiping the cache partition off. Don’t worry, none of your files and data will be deleted if you did this:

Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release all three keys.
Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
Press Power key to select.
Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.

After this procedure, continue to observe your phone to know if its performance improved. If it’s still slow and sluggish, then you need to do the ultimate method to make your phone run fast again–reset.

Fifth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone

After you’ve done everything and your phone’s performance hasn’t improved a bit, it’s time to backup your files and data and then reset it. Sluggishness is often due to some issues with either the apps or the firmware and you can always fix it with this procedure, however, you need to backup your files and data as they will be deleted during the process. After which, make sure that you disable the Factory Reset Protection by removing your Google ID from your phone or you may just have to take note of your Google account and its password as you will be using it to setup your account after the reset.

Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release all three keys.
Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
Press Power button to select.
Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.
