How to fix Galaxy Note10+ won’t fast charge | fast charging not working

If your Galaxy Note10+ won’t fast charge, there are a number of factors that you must consider to fix the problem. Follow the suggestions below.

Galaxy Note10+ won’t fast charge fix #1: Ensure fast charging is ON

The Galaxy Note+ fast charging feature is enabled by default. If you made some changes to your phone’s settings before, make sure that you also check if you forget to turn fast charging feature on. This can be done easily. Here’s how:

1. Open Settings app.
2. Tap Device Care.
3. Tap Battery.
4. Tap More settings icon (three-dots at the upper right).
5. Tap Settings.
6. Scroll down and tap Fast cable charging switch to turn it on (move slider to the right).

Galaxy Note10+ won’t fast charge fix #2: Use original Samsung charging accessories

We only recommend that you use the charging cable and adapter that came with the box. If you’re not using them right now, find the original set and see if your Galaxy Note10+ will fast charge when using it.

If your Galaxy Note10+ still won’t fast charge, the next thing that you want to do is reboot the phone. This can work if the cause of the problem is a temporary bug that causes the system to freeze or become unresponsive. If you haven’t tried this yet, be sure that you do it this time. Try restarting it normally first by pressing the Power button to access the boot menu. Then, select Restart option and see if that works.

Another way to restart the device is by pressing and holding the Volume Down button and the Power key at the same time for 10 seconds or until the device’s screen turns on. This simulates the effect of having disconnected the battery from the device. If this works, this may unlock the device.

If doing the regular restart won’t help, then try this:

1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t release it.

Using another set of original Samsung Galaxy Note10+ charging cable and adapter is not a bad idea at all. Sometimes, USB cables or charging adapter can go bad. If you know someone with a Note10+, try to see if his or her charging accessories will allow your device to charge fast. If that’s the case, there may be a problem with your own charging accessories. What you need to do is to replace it. Be sure to get your replacement from your local Samsung store.

Sometimes, Samsung Galaxy devices may not fast charge if there’s something that blocks the charging cable in the port, or if the port itself is dirty. If you’ve confirmed that there’s no issue coming from your charging accessories, the next step would be to ensure that the charging port is not blocked. Sometimes, dirt or lint may get inside the port and prevent the cable from connecting properly. To check the port, you can use a magnifying tool. If there’s obvious sign of dirt or lint inside, use a can of compressed air to clear it out.

Also, if you recently exposed your Galaxy Note10+ to water, it’s possible that there may be moisture inside. This can prevent the device from charging. Normally, your device should show a “Moisture detected” warning in such situation. Not getting one though does not mean the charging port is 100% free of moisture. If you suspect that the charging port may be wet, consider drying the phone.

An easy way to do home drying is by using uncooked rice or packs of silica gel (the thing that comes with your shoe box). If using rice, make sure cover your device with fully with it. Then, seal the container and leave the phone there for at least 48 hours.

A more effective way to home dry your device is to use silica gel packs instead of rice. It absorbs moisture faster than rice so you can cut the drying time for about half the time. So, instead of leaving the device inside a sealed container for 2 days, 24 hours will do.  You can get silica gel packs from your local crafts store.

There were some instances in the past that older Samsung Galaxy devices were having trouble with fast charging feature when Power Management of the device is not working properly. In this situation, what a user needs to do is to recalibrate the battery and software. It’s easy. Here’s how to do it:

1. Drain the battery completely. This means using your device until it powers down by its own and the battery level reads 0%.
2. Charge the phone until it reaches 100%. Be sure to use original charging equipment for your device and let it charge up completely. Do not unplug your device for at least two more hours and also don’t use it while charging.
3. After the elapsed time, unplug your device.
4. Restart the device.
5. Use your phone until it completely runs out of power again.
6. Repeat steps 1-5.

Installing updates can sometimes be an effective way to fix known problems. If you have pending updates at this time, you want to make sure that you install them. This goes true for both software and app updates. Be default, the Galaxy Note10+ is set to automatically tell you if there’s an available update, either for the software or apps. If you change this setting before, you can go ahead and manually check for updates.

If your Galaxy Note10+ charges normally when it is running on safe mode, you can assume one of the third party apps is to blame. These are the steps to restart to safe mode:

1. Turn the device off.
2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
3. When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
6. When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.
7. Let your phone run, pull up camera app, and check for the problem.

If there are no charging problems at all and your Galaxy Note10+ works normally only on safe mode, you can continue to narrow down the suspected apps with these steps:

1. Boot to safe mode.
2. Check for the problem.
3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
5. If your Galaxy Note10+ is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

Method 1: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10+ via Settings Menu

This is the easiest way to wipe your Galaxy Note10+. all you have to do is to go under Settings menu and follow the steps below. We recommend this method if you have no trouble going under Settings.

1. Create a backup of your personal data and remove your Google account.
2. Open Settings app.
3. Scroll to and tap General management.
4. Tap Reset.
5. Select Factory data reset from the given options.
6. Read the information then tap Reset to continue.
7. Tap Delete All to confirm action.

Method 2: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10+ using hardware buttons

If your case is that the phone is not booting up, or it boots but Settings menu is inaccessible, this method can be helpful. First, you need to boot the device to Recovery Mode. Once you successfully access Recovery, that’s the time that you begin proper master reset procedure. It may take some tries for you before you can access Recovery so be patient and simply try again.

1. If possible, create a backup of your personal data ahead of time. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
2. Also, you want to make sure that you remove your Google account. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
3. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
4. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
5. When the green Android logo displays, release both keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
6. The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
7. Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
8. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
9. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
10. Press the Power button to confirm factory reset.
11. Follow the rest of the instructions to finish the task.
