OnePlus Devices Could Get Android 10 by the First Week of September

According to a screenshot posted on Reddit, OnePlus could be aiming to bring Android 10 to its devices around the same time as Google sends out the update to its Pixel devices. If reports are accurate, Google is expecting to begin the update rollout to its compatible Pixel devices by the 3rd of September. So by this metric, it’s safe to assume that OnePlus is aiming for a similar timeframe, albeit with a potential time difference of up to a week.

So what’s the significance of this screenshot? Well, this shows a conversation between a OnePlus customer support agent and a user wherein it is mentioned that the company will aim for a release “simultaneously with the Android 10 launch”“. The conversation also appears to confirm that Google is indeed sending out the update to its devices on September 3.

If true, this is truly impressive as OnePlus doesn’t use a stock vanilla skin and includes its OxygenOS optimizations with each major update. So it’s clear that the company is already hard at work with the next major update, although we still prefer waiting for official confirmation from OnePlus or any of its top brass before rushing to judgment.

As for the devices that will receive the update first, it’s likely that OnePlus will send out the update to the OnePlus 7 and the 7 Pro as well as its 5G variant followed by older models like the OnePlus 6T and the OnePlus 6. Do you own a OnePlus handset? How excited are you by this new revelation?
