How To Fix NBA 2K21 That Disconnects From Server

This post will guide how to fix the NBa 2K21 that disconnects from its server and make you understand why such a problem occurs. By knowing that, you will also be able to prevent it from happening again in the future. Continue reading to learn more.

NBA 2K21 disconnection issues are often due to problems with its servers. Games like that have to be connected with the server all the time for real-time data transmission. If that connection is cut or disrupted, you will encounter issues while gaming and most of the time, your progress won’t be saved.

There’s also a possibility that such a problem is caused by a technical issue with either the game or your console. That’s why you also have to check on your hardware, especially if it’s not caused by network connection issues. If you’re one of the gamers that’s bugged by this issue, then here’s what you should do:

Fix #1: Check your Internet connection

When it comes to fixing disconnection issues with NBA 2K21, or any game for that matter, you have to check the Internet connection first. Make sure that your console is connected to your Wi-Fi network with a stable and fast Internet connection, because if not, then it’s obviously the reason why the game gets disconnected from its servers.

  1. To check the connection on your Xbox, press the Xbox button and select Settings.
  2. Under General, select Network Settings.
  3. Select Test network connection to know if the console is connected to the Internet.
  4. Then, highlight Test network speed & statistics and press A to select it.
  5. Wait until your Xbox shows you the current speed of your Internet connection.

If your console is connected to the network and has a stable connection, then move on to the next solution.

Fix #2: Close NBA 2K21 and reopen it

If it’s not due to a connection problem, then it’s probably just a minor technical issue with the game or even a bug. If you get disconnected from the server randomly, try closing the game and reopen it. This often fixes minor issues like this. Here’s how:

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller.
  2. Highlight the NBA 2K21 and hit the Menu button.
  3. Highlight Quit and press A to close it.

After doing that, try gaming with NBA 2K21 again to know if the problem is fixed.

Fix #3: Check NBA 2K server status

Server maintenance and other related issues can result in problems like this. So if the first and second solutions fail, what you have to do next is to check the NBA 2K server status. They have a web page that shows you the status of its services.

If the disconnection problem is caused by server issues, then you just have to wait it out as it will definitely be fixed in an hour or two. However, if the servers are up and running, then try the next solution.

Fix #4: Delete NBA 2K21 cache

A corrupted cache can also result in network-related problems such as this. That’s why it’s important that you delete the old cache so that it will be replaced with a new one. A game cache is a collection of small temporary files created by the system to make the game run smoothly. However, there are times when it gets corrupted. To replace NBA 2K21 cache, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller.
  2. At the Home tab, highlight My games & apps and press A.
  3. Select See all to view all your games and apps.
  4. Highlight NBA 2K21 then press the menu button on the controller.
  5. Select Manage game and add-ons and select Saved data.
  6. Select Delete all to remove the cache of the game.

Once the cache is deleted, launch the game to know if the problem is fixed.

Fix #5: Reinstall NBA 2K21

After doing the previous solutions and NBA 2K21 continues to disconnect from its server randomly, what you have to do next is to uninstall it. Doing so will remove all its installation files and association with the system. But after, download and install it again.

This should be your last resort and any game-related problem can be fixed by this procedure. It might take an hour or two depending on your connection speed but rest assured that once the game is reinstalled, it will work normally. Here’s how you uninstall it from your Xbox:

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller.
  2. At the Home tab, highlight My games & apps and press A.
  3. Select See all to view all your games and apps.
  4. Highlight NBA 2K21 then press the menu button on the controller.
  5. Select Uninstall and press A.
  6. Select Uninstall All to proceed.

This should make the game work normally again. We hope that this troubleshooting guide can help you one way or the other.
