LG V20 Charge More Before Turning On

Problem: I have a refurbished LG V20 which I have recently bought and it appeared to be in a mint condition. My daughter has made several videos on it and it worked very well for two months. Last week, suddenly after a regular use, it stopped turning on and started displaying the following message along with the battery icon showing the charge at 0%: Error message: “Charge more before turning on.” I have followed the last step of your post to master Reset it but even that does not help. When I have performed the master reset step 1, it showed me the LG icon but after that it started showing the same error message about the charge. Any suggestions? Thank you! Kind regards P.S. I have no carrier for this phone, it it was strictly used for making videos and connecting with our secured WIFI.

Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still persists then this could already be a hardware related problem most likely caused by the battery not getting sufficient charge. To fix this you should perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes. If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Turn on the phone.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should try replacing the battery as this might already be faulty.

LG V20 Bluetooth Connection To Car Gets Disconnected During Calls

Problem: I recently upgraded to a LG v20 >2 months ago, and use it with the Bluetooth connection in my 2012 Chevy Silverado for phone calls only. Initially it worked fine, but lately, when I a call using the Google assistant, the call goes through, but the phone switches off Bluetooth and goes to speaker phone.if I have the phone out and trap the Bluetooth key, it will instantly switch back and I can continue the call normally. This does not happen when I use the onboard voice dial (call, followed by the number). I previously had a Samsung s5 that worked ok using s voice. I found out through experimenting last night that the car interface works fine if the phone is unlocked while making the call with the car, but it switches off the bluetooth and goes to internal speakerphone on the phone if the car has to wake the phone. I have been having some trouble with the google assistant as well, sometimes the phone (again when using it with the car interface) will bring up the google assistant screen when I use the voice command, in which case it will say “Thanks you, goodbye” when I should get a beep to let me know that the phone is ready to take a voice command through the car interface. Once this happens, I have to do a power cycle to get rid of the google assistant. Once I power cycle it goes back to the (less annoying) habit above. I did a factory reset last night (Ugh!) on the advice of the Verizon rep at the store (not sure he actually knew what he was doing) and haven’t had this particular problem crop up again (yet) but I haven’t used it much since. Thanks!

Solution:  A factory reset is a great way to fix issues concerning software glitches. Just try to observe if the issue will occurs again and if it doesn’t then it’s safe to say that it was caused by some corrupt data that was causing a conflict with the Bluetooth connection.

LG V20 Keeps Freezing

Problem: Hi My phone keeps freezing each time I open contacts then click on a person’s details to make a phone call the mobile freezes. I then need to click on the back button in the screen to start again. I have to do this repeatedly until i am able to make a phone call. However if i am connected to my bluetooth in my car and use my car stereo touchscreen my mobile works perfectly. I think its a bug with lg built in contact app? My other problem is the battery runs down after 4 hours and needs to be recharged. My battery also has been draining recently when i try to charge it in my car also? Have you any suggestions? My mobile carrier is o2. Regards

Again i reiterate the following issues with my lg v20 and need assistance;

  1. Battery drains to 50% within 4 hours use of a single call lasting 15 minutes checking a few emails and perhaps search a couple of websites.
  2. Contact app keeps freezing when opening up to locate a contact.
  3. Delay in making a phone call app freezes.
  4. Contact app freezes when making a simple edit of a contact.

My mobile is a dual sim 64gb version.

Lg UK are not prepared to support my phone unless they reboot it and revert my phone back to a single sim working unit. They advise if I am not prepared to have them do this they advised me to call Lg repairs team in Korea. I am based in london uk my phone has authenticity yet this is advice received from Lg UK. All over the internet all consumers who own the lg v20 are complaining of the same issues if not more. I have reset and backed up the mobile but the same issues arise. This mobile is less than 4 months old, never been dropped, i have never experienced anything like this off any mobiles i have ever owned. This is my very first Lg product purchased and i chose this because of the reviews, had i known of this current issues i would not have bought this item. Can you please assist?

Solution:  I recommend that you get a new battery for your phone to address the fast battery drain problem. For the contacts app that keeps freezing try the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clear the cache and data of the contacts app from the application manager
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Do this only if the two steps listed above fails to fix the problem.

LG V20 microSD Card Data Gets Corrupted

Problem: New phone, old phone broken at Christmas 2016. This phone was purchased brand new. Only 2 months old. I had a 32gb sd card and purchased an upgrade 128gb and was waiting on a 256gb to come in the mail. I was transferring the files from the phone to the computer (cut and paste) via usb. Phone accidently came unplugged. Tried to plug back in to see If transfer was done or I need to start over. My media files were gone. (Photo video music) Not on the phone or the camera. I found a program online for Windows called photorec. This program found all of my files and loaded them on my work computer. Best feeling ever. Needed to get the files off my work computer so I COPIED this time over to a 64gb flash drive. Flash drive corrupted in the process and I haven’t found anything that can help the flash drive. Since it was a copy, they were still on work computer. I formatted the original 32gb card and successfully copied the files onto the card. My new 128gb was in the mail when I got home. I went to copy my music and video over to personal computer from 32gb card. I noticed that some of the files were corrupted but most were still there. When I got home I noticed more of the files had corrupted. Next thing all of them were corrupted. I trashed the 32 gb card and put the new 128 card in. Went back to work to get those files from the work computer. Transferred to 128gb card via usb to phone. Corrupted files again. the files on the work computer had also slowly corrupted. I figure something in those files were the problem. Now I had lost my 32gb sd, my 64gb flash drive and my 128gb card. New 256gb sd showed up. I factory reset my phone before installing the 256. Seemed fine but slowly all media started corrupting again.

Solution: It’s very likely that the recovered data files that are stored in your computer which you transferred to the microSD card are causing this problem.  I recommend that you don’t transfer these file to the microSD card. If these files are present in the card then I suggest that you format the card to erase the data. Try checking if the issue still occurs after this.

LG V20 Screen Stays Black From Sleep

Problem:  When it goes to black after not using it for a while and I try to wake up the screen will flash a few colors and stay black. It takes several tries in a row to wake it up, but then it continues to do it. I took out the battery for 10 min and put it back in. That worked for a day then it went back to having the problems.

Solution: There’s a possibility that this is just caused by a software glitch. Try wiping the cache partition of the phone first from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

LG V20 Screen Rotation Not Working

Problem:  Just did an update on the phone and now my screen rotate no longer works, auto screen brightness does not work and when answering or making calls the screen does not blackout when putting the phone up to your ear like it should to keep you from hitting buttons with your cheek. Phone worked fine before the update. Please help. Thank you

Solution: It’s very likely that this problem is caused by some old software data that has not been completely removed from the phone during the update process. This old data usually causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in various issue to occur. The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
