How To Recover Deleted Contacts From Samsung Galaxy Note 2

You’ve recently reset your Galaxy Note 2 to its factory settings but you forgot to back up your contacts. Naturally so, after the reset, they’re gone without a trace. Luckily, recovering them is easy for as long as you’ve synced them with your Google account. Otherwise, you’d have to do some advanced procedures in an attempt to bring back deleted contacts but it comes without guarantee, of course.

The first part of this guide will walk you through recovering contacts that are associated with your Google account while the second part will be about how to recover data (including contacts) using a third-party recovery program, which you would have to download from the internet for free.

How To Restore Contacts From Google

You’re lucky if you have backed up your contacts through Google sync or made an export file to your SD card. If this is the case, then it is easy to restore contacts. Here’s how…

1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
2. Choose Settings.
3. Tap Google (or Samsung, whichever applies).
4. Tap your email address.
5. Now tap Sync Contacts to check the box. If it’s already checked, tap Sync Now.

Galaxy Note 2 will start the syncing and all your backed up contacts will start appearing on your phone right after the sync is complete.

How To Restore Contacts From SD Card

1. Make sure your SD Card is inserted.
2. Go to the Home screen and tap Contacts.
3. Tap the Contacts tab.
4. Tap the Menu key.
5. Tap Import / Export.
6. Tap Import from SD Card.
7. Choose the account where you want to save your contacts.
8. If you only have one contact list (vCard file) stored on your SD card, then the contacts will automatically copy now. If you have more than one file, follow steps 9 and 10.
9. Tap Import vCard file. Tap OK.
10. Tap the desired vCard file where the contacts are stored. Tap OK.

Restoring Deleted Contacts Via Third-Party Software

There is a third-part software that you can download for free (trial version) over the internet, which claims to be able to restore deleted Android contacts; it’s called Dr. Fone. We will post a simple guide on how to restore contacts using the software but that’s all we could do.

NOTE: We (The Droid Guy) are not, in any way, affiliated with the developers of the software. Although this post may seem like a recommendation to use it, you have all the freedom not to. I personally tried the software and it worked with one of my phones so I guess it’s worth a mention here.

1. Download the free trial of the software from here.
2. Install the software to your computer.
3. Launch the software and connect Galaxy Note 2 to computer.
4. Enable USB Debugging.
5. Click the Start button to begin analysis.
6. Tap Allow button.
7. Now click the Start button to begin the scan.
8. You will now be able to preview and restore your contacts.
