How to fix Xiaomi Pocophone F1 won’t charge issue

One of the common problems in any smartphone is the loss of the ability to charge. In this article for the Xiaomi Pocophone F1, we’ll show you the troubleshooting steps that you can do to fix the problem.

How to troubleshoot a Xiaomi Pocophone F1 that won’t charge

It’s usually not easy to put a finger why Xiaomi Pocophone F1 stops charging. To narrow down possible factors, you need to perform a number of troubleshooting steps.

Force reboot

Refreshing the system is the first troubleshooting step in this case. If you haven’t tried it yet, press and hold the Power key and Volume Down button for 15 seconds or more. This simulates the effect of disconnecting the battery from the system.

Alternatively, you can also try the following to restart your device:

  1. Press and hold the volume down button first and don’t let go.
  2. Press and hold the power key while holding down the volume down button.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 15 seconds or more

Use different cable and adapter

Oftentimes, charging problems on Android devices are caused by bad cable or adapter. Make sure to use another set of charging accessories to see if this is causing your problem. USB cables usually get damaged through normal wear and tear but also if a user is not careful in handling it. There are hundreds of tiny wires inside that can get damaged after a lot of twisting and bending. Overtime, there will only be a few good wires left inside causing insufficient power to reach the battery while charging.

Make sure to use a known working charging cable and adapter when doing this troubleshooting step. If possible, stick to official accessories and not rely on third party ones.

Charge in another outlet

Like charging accessories, wall outlets may become defective. If you’ve been charging on the same outlet all the time, consider using another one. Or, you can check if the outlet is working by plugging in another device to it.

Check the charging port

Sometimes, charging issues can be caused by a damaged charging port. While there’s nothing much that you can do if that’s your case, it should still help in the sense that you will not be wasting your time checking for other factors. It can also make it easier for a technician during repair.

To do this, you want to do a visual check on the charging port. If there’s obvious damage, like when it’s physically impacted, try not to waste your time looking for software solutions. Instead, you want to contact Google so phone damage can be repaired.

At times, dirt, lint, or bent pins inside the port can cause this problem as well. If you want to see inside the port more clearly, try to use a magnifying tool to examine it. If there’s visible lint or dirt that may prevent the charging cable from making good contact with the system inside, try to use a can of compressed air to clear it out.

Calibrate battery and OS

Sometimes, Android may lose track of the actual battery levels. To recalibrate the operating system so that it gets accurate battery level readings, do the following:

  1. Drain the battery completely. This means using your device until it powers down by its own and the battery level reads 0%.
  2. Charge the phone until it reaches 100%. Be sure to use original charging equipment for your device and let it charge up completely. Do not unplug your device for at least two more hours and also don’t use it while charging.
  3. After the elapsed time, unplug your device.
  4. Restart the device.
  5. Use your phone until it completely runs out of power again.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5.

Charge via a computer

Some users were able to successfully fix charging issues on their device by charging thru a computer. If your Pocophone F1 is still not charging at this point, be sure to try this workaround and see if it makes a difference.

Charge while on Safe Mode

This one aims to check whether or not a third party app is involved. to

  1. Your device must be powered on.
  2. Press the power button on phone.
  3. When the power off, restart, airplane mode, wifi mode, etc. menu will be displayed, release the power button.

  6. Select to reboot into Android Safe Mode.
  7. When done, a dedicated Safe Mode watermark will be displayed on your smartphone
  8. Charge the phone and check for the problem.

If your device charges normally on safe mode only, that’s a clear indication that a bad app is to blame. To identify which of your apps is causing the trouble, you should boot the phone back to safe mode and follow these steps:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
