Troubleshooting Galaxy S10e that keeps losing signal

I have personally encountered this kind of problem before but it was for the WiFi signal. The problem was that the connection drops from time to time. I was able to fix it by doing some basic troubleshooting procedures. In fact, you may be able to fix this problem on your own as well. Here are the things you need to do if your Galaxy S10e keeps dropping its signal…

First solution: Force restart your phone

The first thing that you should do if your phone keeps losing signal for no apparent reason is to perform the forced restart. It will refresh your phone’s memory as well as reload all its apps and services. It’s imperative that you do this procedure because it’s possible that this problem is caused by a minor firmware issue or even just a glitch. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy S10e logo shows on the screen.

Once the phone has finished restarting, observe closely to know if the phone still keeps losing signal because if it still does, then try the next solution.

Second solution: Make sure it’s not due to a third-party app

There are apps that may cause inconsistencies in your phone’s normal operation and there are also apps that prevent the device from having a stable internet connection. One thing is for sure though, none of Samsung or Google apps will do that. Needless to say, we need to scrutinize the apps you installed and the best way to isolate the problem is to restart the phone in safe mode. Here’s how:

  1. Press and hold the Power key until options show.
  2. Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode.
  3. Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.
  4. Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen.

If the phone has a stable connection or the signal doesn’t drop in that mode, then it confirms that the problem is caused by a third-party application. Follow these steps to determine the culprit and fix the problem:

  1. Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode.
  2. Remember the apps you installed about the time when the phone starts to reboot by itself.
  3. Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  4. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  5. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  6. Find and tap suspected app.
  7. Tap Storage.
  8. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
  9. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
  10. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.

On the other hand, if the phone continues to lose or drop the signal in safe mode, then it’s time to refresh the connection.

Third solution: Reset Network Settings

Most of the time, network-related issues are due to corrupt cache used by your phone’s radios to connect to the network. Regardless of whether it’s an issue with WiFi, Bluetooth or mobile data, this procedure will fix it.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Touch Reset.
  5. Tap Reset network settings.
  6. Tap Reset settings.
  7. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern.
  8. Finally, tap Reset.

After resetting the network settings, let your phone reconnect to the network and try to see if it still keeps losing signal because if it still does, then it’s time to troubleshoot the firmware itself.

Fourth solution: Wipe Cache Partition

Another possibility we have to rule out is the chance that this problem is caused by a corrupt system cache. Therefore, you have to delete the old cache so that it will be replaced with a new one and this could fix the signal dropping issue. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Galaxy S10e logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy S10e will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Fifth solution: Master reset your phone

Once of the similar cases I encountered in the past was fixed by a reset. It’s because this procedure addresses all firmware-related problems. However, make sure you create a copy of your important files and data especially ones that are stored in your phone’s internal storage as they will be deleted. After that, remove your google and samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out of your device after the reset. Once everything is in order, follow these steps to reset your phone:

  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
