How to fix Samsung Galaxy Note FE that won’t turn on (easy fix)

The Samsung Galaxy Note FE (Fan Edition), previously Galaxy Note 7, has pretty impressive hardware specifications and if not because of the battery issue that prompted Samsung to recall all units, this device should have been the best smartphone in 2017. We have readers who have been complaining about a very common problem–the device won’t turn on after it turned off–that’s the reason why I need to address such issue in this post.

I will walk you through in troubleshooting your Note FE and share with you the solution that we’ve always been using to address this problem. If the phone turned off on its own and no longer responds after that and assuming it didn’t suffer from any physical and/or liquid damage, then it’s probably just a minor firmware issue. How to fix Galaxy Note FE that no longer powers up

This kind of problem may seem like a very complicated issue but in reality, it’s just a minor firmware concern, at least, based on my experience. In other words, you can make your phone respond and turn on again without any help from a technician. That’s what I’m going to share with you here. With all that being said, here’s what I suggest you do about this problem…

First solution: Forced Reboot

Most of the cases I’ve encountered were due to a firmware or system crash. It’s not really a serious problem but it will leave an impression that the phone has some serious hardware issue because it no longer responds when you press the power key or even connect the device to its charger. That’s why many of our readers start to panic when this issue occurs.

Many of our readers had to bring their phones to the shop only to be told that their phones just crashed and there were also others who were charged by the tech and had to wait for an hour or two. You don’t deserve to experience that because you only have to force your phone to reboot in order to fix this problem. To do that, follow this…

  • Press and hold both the volume down and power keys simultaneously for 10 seconds or more.

The forced reboot will refresh your phone’s memory be reloading all the apps, services and core functions. So, if this problem is actually due to a firmware crash, your device should already be booting up now. However, if it’s still not responding, try doing the same procedure a couple more times or try this:

  1. Press and hold the volume down button first and don’t let go of it.
  2. Press and hold the power key while holding down the volume down button.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.

The second procedure is actually the same as the first but we’re making sure you press and hold the volume down button before the power key because doing otherwise won’t give you favorable results.

RELEVANT ISSUES:

Second solution: Charge and do the Forced Reboot

After doing the first solution and your Galaxy Note FE is still not responding, then it’s possible that the battery got completely drained. The thing about letting your phone drain its battery completely is that, some hardware components and services may not shut down properly the moment the juice runs out, which may lead to a system crash. Sure you can make your phone respond again by doing the forced reboot but the fact that there’s no battery left to power it up, it still won’t respond. To address this, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Plug the charger to a working wall outlet. It’s imperative you use the wired charger.
  2. Using the original power / data cable, connect your Note FE to its charger.
  3. Regardless whether the phone is showing charging signs or not, leave it connected to its charger for 10 minutes or so.
  4. Press and hold the volume down button first and don’t let go of it.
  5. Press and hold the power key while holding down the volume down button.
  6. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more but this time while it’s connected to its charger.

If your phone still refuses to turn on after doing all this, then it’s time to bring it to the shop or any Samsung Experience so that a technician can check it up for you. It’s obvious that the problem is more than just a system crash or caused by a drained battery.
