How to fix LG V40 ThinQ won’t send MMS issue

The LG V40 ThinQ is one of the top-tier phones for Android today. That said, it sports an amazing array of hardware and software novelties only available for its class. This however does not make the device immune from messaging problems. Today’s article shows you the troubleshooting steps that you can try if you are having trouble sending MMS on your LG V40 ThinQ.

How to troubleshoot a LG V40 ThinQ that won’t send MMS

There’s a number of factors to consider when trying to fix an MMS issue. Below are the troubleshooting steps that you want to do to fix your MMS problem.

Turn on mobile data

This is often the most common reason why a lot Android users encounter MMS problems. Unlike regular texts, MMS needs cellular data in order to work. Make sure to turn on mobile data first before trying to send an MMS.

To turn on mobile data:

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings Settings icon > Network & Internet Network & Internet settings icon.
  2. Tap Data usage.
  3. Tap Mobile Data to turn on On Switch or off Off Switch.
  4. Tap OK.

Some carriers may allow sending MMS on wifi so try to check your wifi connectivity as well if this is your setup.

Mobile data may be a value added service for your carrier. This means that it’s not automatically allowed for use and you need to subscribe to it. Talk to your carrier if this is the reason why MMS fails to send.

Take note of any error

Network issues like being unable to send MMS happens for a reason. One of the basic things that you should take note of is to find out whether or not there’s an error message. Errors are like guideposts for a user or a troubleshooter that points them to the right direction. They usually vary on the software and carrier so if your LG V40 ThinQ shows one after failing to send, write it down and do a quick check in the web.

Check if voice calling works

  • Your SIM is faulty

Reseat SIM

Disconnecting your SIM card from your device often brings benefits especially when it comes to fixing network issues. That’s because doing so forces the device to clear old or current configuration and replaces it with a new and possibly new one. Network problems may sometimes stem from network modifications on your carrier-level.

Before you remove the SIM card from your LG V40 ThinQ, be sure to turn the device off to avoid possible data corruption. Once you’ve removed the SIM card, wait for a few seconds before re-inserting it. Again, be sure that your phone is off before you insert the card.

  6. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN (get APN data from your carrier).

You should enter accurate APN values in their fields. If one of them is incorrect or has missing or extra character, it might lead to problems.

Delete old conversations

Each app can only store so much data. It’s possible that the reason why your LG V40 ThinQ is unable to send MMS is due to lack of space.   7. Restart the device
  8. Check for the problem.

Return messaging app to its defaults

Sometimes, it takes a more drastic step to fix a messaging app issue. If nothing works after clearing the messaging app’s cache, make sure to dlete the app’s data. This will return the app to its factory state. It will also delete all your texts and MMS. Be sure to back them up ahead of time if you don’t want to lose them.

Follow the steps below to clear LG V40 ThinQ app data:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps & notifications.
  3. Tap App info.
  4. Find your messaging app and tap it.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Tap Clear data.
  7. Restart the device
  8. Check for the problem.

Check MMS on Safe Mode

Sometimes, a downloaded app interfere with Android or with other apps. To check if you have a bad app issue, try booting the device to safe mode.

  1. With the screen on, press and hold the Power key.
  2. In the options menu that displays, press and hold Power off.
  3. When prompted to restart in Safe Mode, tap OK.
  4. After your device restarts, it displays Safe mode at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Send MMS and see if it works.

If you can send MMS normally while on safe mode, that means there’s an app causing the problem. To know which of your apps is the culprit, you want to use elimination method. Here’s how:

  1. Boot your LG V40 ThinQ to safe mode.
  2. Send MMS and see if it works.
  3. If MMS sends, that’s an indication that you have a bad app problem.
  4. Uninstall an app that you think may be causing the problem.
  5. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem (send MMS again).
  6. If MMS is still not working, repeat steps 1-5.

Reset network settings

Clearing your device’s network settings is a staple troubleshooting step for any network problem. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap System.
  3. Tap Restart & reset.
  4. Tap Network settings reset.
  5. Tap RESET SETTINGS.
  6. Tap Reset Settings.

Call network operator

Should none of the troubleshooting above won’t work, the last thing that you must do is to tell your network operator about it. There may be an account- or network-related issue causing the problem. These are usually beyond your ability to do something about.
