What you should do about this problem is rule out the possibility that the issue is with the firmware or with the network because once you’ve ruled these out, you can assume the problem is with the hardware and you need help from a technician or you may need to get the device replaced.

Reboot your phone first – this must be the first thing you should especially if it’s the first time you’re having difficulty sending text messages. The thing is the problem could be a result of a minor glitch in the system. If the problem continues after the reboot, then you should try doing the forced restart procedure which refreshes your phone’s memory. Press and hold the volume down button and the power key at the same time for 8 seconds or more. This will reboot your phone and once it becomes active, try to send a text message to your own number to test if the sending and receiving are successful. If still not, then move on to the next procedure.

Make sure you account is in good standing – if you have unpaid balance, your service provider may have barred your account from using the service. The only thing you can do to make sure it’s not the case is to call tech support. Inquire about the status of your account and then the status of the tower near you as it’s possible the problem is with the network. You will be advised by the representative why you can no longer send and receive text messages. After all, they have all the tools necessary to fix this kind of problem.

Reset your LG V35 ThinQ – if you were told that your account is in good standing and that there’s no outage or any network-related issues in your area but you still can send and receive SMS, then it’s better to reset your phone to rule out the possibility that it’s a problem with the firmware. Because after doing that and the problem continues, you can bring the phone back to the store and have the tech take a look at it since it’s possible that the problem is with your device’s radios.

Before the reset, however, make sure you backup your important files and data as they will be deleted…

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory before performing a master reset.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
  4. When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
  5. When the ‘Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings’ message appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
  6. Press the Power button to reset the device.

Again, if the problem continues after the reset, then bring it back to the store or to the local shop to be checked by a technician.
