Troubleshooting Samsung Galaxy S10 with Play Store error 8

In troubleshooting issues like this, it is imperative to determine all possible causes why this error code keeps on popping up. Take note, even though this is just a minor issue, we still need to perform the basic procedures so that we can formulate a solution and get rid of it. That being said, here are the things that you should do:

First Solution: Perform the Forced Restart

Sometimes an error like this is just a result of a very minor firmware issue or even a glitch. The first thing you have to do is to refresh the phone’s memory by performing the Forced Restart procedure. It is a simulated battery removal that forces your phone to restart and refresh its memory as well as reload all apps and services. If it’s just a result of a minor firmware issue, then this procedure will definitely fix it. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy S10 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has successfully rebooted, open the Play Store and try downloading any app. Try to see if the error 8 continues to pop up because if it does, then move on to the next procedure.

Second Solution: Reset Google Play Store

If the problem continues to occur, the next thing that you should do is clear the cache and data of your Play Store app. This will bring the app back to its default settings and configuration and generate newer files and data. So, if this is just caused by corrupt files and data, then, this procedure will resolve it. Don’t worry, none of your apps and files will be deleted if you did this. It’s just the Play Store’s cache and data files that will be replaced with new ones.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Google Play Store.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.
  7. Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.
  8. Now reboot your phone to release some used RAM.

After the restart, try to download any app and see if the Play Store error 8 still shows up. If it still does, then move on to the next procedure as it could be an account-related issue.

Third Solution: Remove your Google Account and Add it back again

There were cases in the past wherein problems like this were fixed by simply removing the Google account from the phone and adding it back. It might work for you so try following these steps:

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Tap Accounts and backup.
  4. Tap Accounts.
  5. Select the appropriate Gmail address. If there are multiple accounts, make sure to pick the one you want to remove from the device.
  6. Tap Remove account.
  7. To confirm, review the notification then tap Remove account.
  8. Restart your phone to refresh the memory.

Once the phone has successfully rebooted, re-add the account and see if the problem gets fixed. Here’s how to add a Google account on your S10:

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Tap Accounts and backup.
  4. Tap Accounts.
  5. Tap Add account.
  6. Tap Google. If you set up a screen lock option such as PIN, Password, or Pattern, you should enter it here when prompted.
  7. Enter the Gmail address then tap NEXT.
  8. Enter the password then tap NEXT.
  9. To continue, review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy then tap I AGREE. To review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, tap the appropriate link and language then tap Close (at the bottom) when finished.
  10. If presented, tap the Back up to Google Drive switch to turn on, then tap Accept.

Once you’ve successfully added the account, launch Play Store and try to download any app. If the error 8 still pops up, then it’s time to reset the phone as it could be just a result of a firmware issue.
