How to fix Galaxy S10 5G System UI keeps crashing | System UI won’t load

Below are the troubleshooting steps that you must follow if System UI keeps crashing on your  Galaxy S10 5G.

S10 5G System UI crashing fix #1: Reboot device

The first troubleshooting step that you want to do in this case is to ensure that you reboot your phone. App issues including System UI may encounter bugs from time to time and many of these bugs are caused by temporary coding glitches. At times, bugs may also develop if a device is left to run for a long stretch of time. To see if you’ll be able to fix System UI crashing issue on your Galaxy S10 5G with a restart. It’s recommended that you restart your device at least once a week to prevent issues from bugs of this type. As a troubleshooting step in this situation, you want to ensure that you’ve rebooted the device. Try restarting it normally first by pressing the Power button to access the boot menu. Then, select Restart option and see if that works.

Another way to restart the device is by pressing and holding the Volume Down button and the Power key at the same time for 10 seconds or until the device’s screen turns on. This simulates the effect of having disconnected the battery from the device. If this works, this may unlock the device.

If doing the regular restart won’t help, then try this:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t release it.
  2. While holding it down, press and hold the Power key.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.
  4. The second restart procedure tries to simulate the effects of removing the battery pack. On older devices, disconnecting the battery is often an effective way in fixing unresponsive devices. If nothing changed though, proceed to the next suggestions.

Rebooting your device regularly at least once every week can be beneficial. If you tend to forget things, we suggest that you configure your phone to reboot on its own. You can schedule it to do this task by doing these steps:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Device Care.
  3. Tap the 3-dot at the top.
  4. Select Auto restart.

S10 5G System UI crashing fix #2: Install system update

Keeping the software and app updated is one of the effective means to lessen chances of encountering bugs. Make sure that you manually check for Android or carrier updates under Settings > Software update. If your Galaxy S10 came from your carrier, there should be notifications for any available updates. All you have to do is to tap on them and install the updates. To manually check for updates:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Software update.
  3. Tap Download and install.
  4. Wait for the device to check for updates.

S10 5G System UI crashing fix #3: Force quit System UI

Your Samsung device has many core and default apps that should be enabled and working. These are apps that are needed by Android and other apps in order to do their tasks. One of such apps is the System UI app. Just like any other app, System UI may encounter a bug from time to time, especially when there’s system-wide changes like after an update. Fortunately, fixing minor app bugs is easy. What you have to do is to simply force close the app. Heres how:

  1. On your screen, tap the Recent Apps soft key (the one with three vertical lines on the left of the Home button).
  2. Once the Recent Apps screen is shown, swipe left or right to look for the Settings app. It should be here if you managed to run it previously. Then, swipe up on the app to close it. This should force close it. If it’s not there, simply tap the Close All app to also restart all apps.

Another way to force close an app is this:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap Settings app.
  6. Tap Force Stop.

S10 5G System UI crashing fix #4: Clear cache partition

If your Galaxy S10 5G System UI started crashing after installing an app or system update, the cause may be system cache related. The system cache is necessary for efficient performance of apps. Android uses the system cache to load apps quickly. Sometimes, this cache may become outdated or corrupted which then leads to problems. In most cases, apps may perform poorly or slowly. At other times, some apps may stop working at all. To ensure that the system cache on your device is updated, you must clear the cache partition, where this cache is stored, regularly. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until ‘yes’ is highlighted and press the Power button.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

S10 5G System UI crashing fix #5: Clear System UI app cache

If the problem is still there after doing some of the basic troubleshooting steps above, the next thing that you want to do is delete the cache of the System UI app. This can be an effective method to fix a problem if the cause is due to a bad System UI cache. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap System UI app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear cache button.
  8. Restart the phone and check for the problem.

S10 5G System UI crashing fix #6: Delete System UI data

If clearing of System UI cache won’t help, the next good thing to do is to ensure that you erase the app’s data as well. This will force it to return to its factory state, which, hopefully will also clear the bug.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap System UI app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear data button.
  8. Restart the phone and check for the problem.

S10 5G System UI crashing fix #7: Update apps

Sometimes, a default app like System UI may encounter a problem because of the presence of a poorly coded third party app. To minimize the chance of getting problems from a bad app, you want to keep apps as up-to-date as possible. The best way to do this is to only get apps from Google Play Store or from a trusted third party source (if you can’t keep your hands off from non-Play Store applications). By default, the Play Store is set to automatically update the apps so there’s no effort from you there. However, if you change this setting, make sure that you manually check for app updates. Here’s how:

  1. Open Play Store app.
  2. Tap More settings icon (at the upper left).
  3. Tap My apps & games.
  4. Tap Update all button.

S10 5G System UI crashing fix #8: Check for rogue apps

If your Galaxy S10 5G started having crashing issues with its System UI app shortly after installing an app, make sure delete the said app. If that won’t fix the problem, or if you can’t recall which app you installed may have contributed to the problem, you can restart to Safe Mode instead. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Press and hold the Power button until the Power off window appears then release.
  2. Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode prompt appears then release.
  3. To confirm, tap Safe mode.
  4. The process may take up to 30 seconds to complete.
  5. Upon reboot, “Safe mode” appears in the lower-left of the home screen.

Remember that third-party applications are disabled in this mode so what you can use are pre-installed apps. If the System UI issue won’t appear on safe mode, that means that the problem is due to a bad app. Uninstall the app you recently installed and see if that will fix it. If the problem remains, use the process of elimination to identify the rogue app. Here’s how:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your S10 5G is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

S10 5G System UI crashing fix #9: Reset app preferences

In case there’s a default app that’s been disabled by mistake causing the bug, make sure to reset app preferences.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap on More settings at the upper right (three-dot icon).
  4. Select Reset app preferences.
  5. Restart your S10 and check for the problem.

S10 5G System UI crashing fix #10: Erase device

Should none of the above solutions work, your last recourse if factory reset. In majority of cases,

System UI issues are caused by a software bug. If your Galaxy S10 5G encounters this issue because of unknown software bug, factory reset might help. Be sure to create a backup of your personal data before you wipe your device.

Below are the two ways to factory reset your S10:

Method 1: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy S10 via Settings Menu

This is the easiest way to wipe your Galaxy S10. all you have to do is to go under Settings menu and follow the steps below. We recommend this method if you have no trouble going under Settings.

  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Select Factory data reset from the given options.

Method 2: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy S10 using hardware buttons

If your case is that the phone is not booting up, or it boots but Settings menu is inaccessible, this method can be helpful. First, you need to boot the device to Recovery Mode. Once you successfully access Recovery, that’s the time that you begin proper master reset procedure. It may take some tries for you before you can access Recovery so be patient and simply try again.

  1. If possible, create a backup of your personal data ahead of time. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  2. Also, you want to make sure that you remove your Google account. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  3. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Bixby button at the same time.
  5. While still holding the Volume Up and Bixby keys, press and hold the Power button.
  6. The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
  7. Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  8. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  9. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
  10. Press the Power button to confirm factory reset.
