How to fix Galaxy A90 MMS not working | MMS won’t send or receive

Are you having an issue with MMS? If your Galaxy A90 MMS is not working, there must be a factor causing it. Learn what you can do to identify the reason for the problem in this guide.

A90 MMS not working fix #1: Verify mobile data is working

MMS won’t work if mobile data is OFF. Be sure to turn cellular data on first before you try sending or downloading MMS. If you are on a limited mobile data subscription and your MMS suddenly stops working, it is probably due to mobile data being suspended. Check with your carrier to confirm this. Unless explicitly stated by your carrier, MMS does not work on wifi. Do not expect that you can continue sending or receiving MMS if you are on wifi connection.

A90 MMS not working fix #2:  Check for errors

Are you getting an error message when trying to send or get MMS? If yes, what you must do then is to take note of the exact error. Then, open your web browser and do a Google search for it. If the error is known, there may be available solution that you can try.

Keep in mind that errors can vary in this situation. The one you have may exist only on your app or device, or it can be specific to your account or carrier. If it appears to be a carrier or network error, be sure to contact your carrier’s technical team for more assistance.

A90 MMS not working fix #3: Restart messaging app

The other important, yet basic step to do is to force quit the app in question. If your Galaxy A90  messaging app is not working and or appears to be so because it keeps crashing or showing an error, begin by closing the said app. Her are the steps to do that:

  1. On your screen, tap the Recent Apps soft key (the one with three vertical lines on the left of the Home button).
  2. Once the Recent Apps screen is shown, swipe left or right to look for the Instagram app. It should be here if you managed to run it previously. Then, swipe up on the app to close it. This should force close it. If it is not there, simply tap the Close All app to also restart all apps.

Another way to force close an app is this:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap the Spotify app.
  6. Tap Force Stop.

If both of these procedures won’t help in fixing the bug, proceed to the rest of the troubleshooting below.

A90 MMS not working fix #4: Delete old conversations

Both received and sent items are stored in the same dedicated storage space in your messaging app. If you regularly send or receive messages with attachments, it is possible that your messaging app may have run out of space. Try to delete some of your old messages, or those with a lot of attachments to fix the issue. Delete as many as possible to ensure that there is more than enough space to accommodate incoming texts or MMS. Afterwards, restart the phone and see what happens.

A90 MMS not working fix #5: Clear messaging app cache

If your Galaxy A90 MMS is still not working, it would not be a bad idea to deal directly with the messaging app. One of the ways to do that is to clear the cache. Sometimes, an app may behave erratically if its cache is corrupted or problematic. Below are the steps to clear app cache:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap the messaging app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear cache button.
  8. Restart the device and check for the problem.

A90 MMS not working fix #6: Restart device

If your Galaxy A90 MMS is still not working, the next move that you can do is to see if doing soft reset or forced reboot will help. Heres how: press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power key at the same time for 10 seconds or until the device’s screen turns on.

If doing the regular restart won’t help, then try this:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t release it.
  2. While holding it down, press and hold the Power key.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.

The second restart procedure tries to simulate the effects of removing the battery pack. On older devices, disconnecting the battery is often an effective way in fixing unresponsive devices. Hopefully, your wifi troubles will get fixed by this procedure. If nothing changed though, proceed to the next suggestions.

A90 MMS not working fix #7: Reset network settings

If MMS was working previously, it’s possible that there may be some network settings that changed. To ensure that all network settings are okay, the second step is to reset them. Resetting network settings resets all data connections back to the out of the box factory defaults. The following changes will occur by performing a Reset of network settings.

  • Stored Wi-Fi networks will be deleted.
  • Paired Bluetooth devices will be deleted.
  • Background data sync settings will be turned on.
  • Data restrictive settings in applications that were manually turned on/off by the customer will be reset to the default setting.
  • Network selection mode will be set to automatic.

To perform a Network reset, follow these steps.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap General management.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Tap Reset Network Settings.
  5. Tap RESET SETTINGS button.

The steps above will reset wifi, mobile data, and bluetooth settings. This means that you’ll have to enter wifi passwords, re-pair Bluetooth devices, or re-enter VPN credentials again.

A90 MMS not working fix #8: Reset or reinstall messaging app

If you are using a pre-installed messaging app, try to delete its data. This will return the app to its original state. This is usually effective in fixing minor app bugs. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap the Spotify app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear data button.

If you installed the messaging appyourself, we suggest that you reinstall it instead of deleting its data. Below are the steps to delete or uninstall an app

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Tap Apps.
  4. Ensure All is selected (upper-left).  If necessary, tap the Dropdown icon (upper-left) then select All.
  5. Locate then select the appropriate app. If system apps aren’t visible, tap the Menu icon (upper-right) then select Show system apps.
  6. Tap Uninstall to delete an app.
  7. Tap OK to confirm.

Alternatively, you can try to uninstall app updates if the problem happened after updating the app. Follow the steps below on how to uninstall an app:

  8. To uninstall app updates (This option is only available when an update has been installed.)
  9. Tap Uninstall Updates.
  10. To confirm, tap OK.

A90 MMS not working fix #9: Check VPN

If you are not sure if the APN settings are correct or not, you can check the APN settings yourself by doing the following steps:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Connections.
  3. Tap Mobile Networks.
  4. Tap Access Point Names.
  5. Select the correct APN.
  6. Configure values as necessary.

Make sure to get the correct APN from your carrier ahead of time.

A90 MMS not working fix #10: Refresh cache partition

If MMS started not working properly on your Galaxy A90 after installing a system update, there may be an issue with the system cache. To ensure that the system cache is refreshed, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until ‘yes’ is highlighted and press the Power button.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

A90 MMS not working fix #11: Check on Safe Mode

If the issue occurred after installing an app, that app may be to blame. Delete it and see what happens.

If you can’t figure out the app that may be causing the problem, try to charge the device while it’s running on safe mode. This will remove third party apps from the picture. On Safe mode, all third party apps will be blocked.

To boot your Galaxy A90  to safe mode:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the screen with the device name.
  3. When ‘SAMSUNG’ appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  7. Release the Volume down key when you see ‘Safe Mode’.
  8. If your Galaxy S10 5G has no problem with Spotify on safe mode, you have a third party app problem. To identify it, you must use the process of elimination. Here’s how:
  9. Boot to safe mode.
  10. Check for the problem.
  11. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  12. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  13. If your A90 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

A90 MMS not working fix #12: Factory reset

The final troubleshooting step that you can do is factory reset. You must do this if none of the solutions above has helped and your Galaxy A90 MMS is still not working. Below are the methods to factory reset your device:

Method 1: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy S10 via Settings Menu

  1. Create a backup of your personal data and remove your Google account.
  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Select Factory data reset from the given options.
  6. Read the information then tap Reset to continue.
  7. Tap Delete All to confirm action.

Method 2: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy S10 using hardware buttons

  1. If possible, create a backup of your personal data ahead of time. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  2. Also, you want to make sure that you remove your Google account. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  3. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Bixby button at the same time.
  5. While still holding the Volume Up and Bixby keys, press and hold the Power button.
  6. The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
  7. Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  8. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  9. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
  10. Press the Power button to confirm factory reset.

A90 MMS not working fix #13: Get help from network operator

Should all the suggestions above fail to fix the issue, you need to work with your network operator. There may be an account or network problem that prevents MMS from working normally so it’s not bad at all to involve your carrier in this one.
