How to fix Galaxy A80 MMS not working | troubleshooting won’t send MMS

To fix your Galaxy A80 MMS not working issue, you need to perform a number of troubleshooting steps to identify the culprit. Here’s a list of troubleshooting steps that you must do to fix the problem.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #1: Turn on Mobile data

In order for Multimedia Messaging Service or MMS to work, cellular data must be enabled. MMS also has to be added to a regular subscription before it can be used. If you’ve just set up your Galaxy A80 and realized that MMS is not working, make sure that you check two things. First, you want to ensure that cellular or mobile data is on, and second, that MMS has been added to your account. If you’re not sure about these two, contact your network operator for help.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #2: Confirm network is up

If MMS was previously working on this same device but now it just stops for no apparent reason, the first thing that you want to know is if there’ any possible network problem. You can do that by checking the signal bars and then confirming if the same problem occurs in another phone. If the signal bars appear excellent but your Galaxy A80 MMS is still not working, try inserting the SIM card to another phone. This should help you tell if there’s a network-wide trouble, or if it’s isolated to your A80 only.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #3: Force quit messaging app

If the network appears to be working and another device can send MMS using your SIM card, then you should continue troubleshooting your A80. The first step is to force close the messaging app. Temporary glitches may develop over time, especially when the system is left running for a long time. Such bugs may go away when an app is refreshed though. To check if the problem is temporary, follow these steps to restart Facebook.

  1. On your screen, tap the Recent Apps soft key (the one with three vertical lines on the left of the Home button).
  2. Once the Recent Apps screen is shown, swipe left or right to look for the Instagram app. It should be here if you managed to run it previously. Then, swipe up on the app to close it. This should force close it. If it’s not there, simply tap the Close All app to also restart all apps.

Another way to force close an app is this:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap the appropriate app.
  6. Tap Force Stop.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #4: Update messaging app

Updating the app in question is the next good thing to do. Updates not only bring cosmetic changes but also fixes to known bugs. If you’re using the default Samsung Messages, you can go under its Settings menu > About Messages to update it.

If you’re using another messaging app, you may be able to update it via the Play Store app.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #5: Soft reset

The next troubleshooting step that you can do in this case is restart your A80 . Just as apps may encounter errors from time to time, the device itself can do too. Glitches can develop as well if your phone is left to run for a long time. It is for this reason that phone users are encouraged to regularly restart their phones. Your A80 can benefit from a simple restart once every few days.

As a troubleshooting step, we recommend that you do another form of restart called soft reset. Basically, it’s a simulation of effects of the traditional “battery pull” procedure. If you haven’t tried it before, this is how it works:

  1. Press and hold the Power + Volume Down buttons for approximately 12 seconds or until the device power cycles. Note: Allow several seconds for the Maintenance Boot Mode screen to appear.
  2. From the Maintenance Boot Mode screen, select Normal Boot. Note: Utilize the volume buttons to cycle through the available options and the lower left button (below the volume buttons) to select. Allow up to 90 seconds for the reset to complete.

If Maintenance Boot Mode screen won’t show, then your device does not have it. Simply wait for the device to power down completely.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #6: Reset network settings

Since you’re dealing with a texting issue, it’s possible that the cause may be a network settings bug. Try resetting your phone’s network settings and see how it goes. Below are the steps that you must do:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap General Management > Reset > Reset network settings.
  3. Tap Reset settings.
  4. If you have set up a PIN, enter it.
  5. Tap Reset settings. Once complete a confirmation window will appear.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #7: Clear messaging app cache

At times, an app’s cache may affect performance and cause problems. To ensure that the cache of the Facebook app is in top shape, try clearing it and see what happens.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap the appropriate app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear cache button.
  8. Restart the device and check for the problem.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #8: Reset or reinstall messaging app

A follow up to the previous step is clearing an app’s data. If nothing happens after clearing the temporary cache of Facebook, make sure to follow it up by clearing its data.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap the appropriate app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear cache button.
  8. Restart the device and check for the problem.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #9: Try sending on Safe Mode

If the Galaxy A80 MMS not working issue started after you installed an application, the next good thing that you must do is to see if deleting that app helps. If you can’t remember the app, or if you suspect that one of the apps is to blame, you can instead run the device on Safe Mode. In this mode, all apps that you added, considered third party apps, will be blocked from running. If MMS works on Safe Mode only, that means that a third party app is blocking the service for some reason. To check if one of the third party apps causes the current MMS issue, you can boot the phone to Safe Mode. Here’s how:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.
  3. When “SAMSUNG” appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  7. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.

To identify which of your apps is the source of trouble, you must use elimination method. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your A80 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #10: Delete old texts

Just like when having texting issues, MMS may not send or be received if the inbox in your messaging app is full. Try to delete old texts, especially those that contain MMS or attachments. After that, check for the problem again.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #11: Refresh system cache

Some MMS issues happen after an update because the system cache becomes corrupted. To ensure that your device’s system cache is in top shape, try clearing the cache partition where it’s kept. This will will force the device to create a new one afterwards. Don’t worry, clearing the cache won’t erase your personal data and only temporary set of files will be wiped out. Here’s how to clear the cache partition:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key to highlight “wipe cache partition.”
  5. Press the Power key to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Galaxy A80 MMS not working fix #12: Factory reset

The final troubleshooting step that you can perform on your phone is to factory reset it. This helps if the problem is due to a software bug. In a lot of times, MMS troubles are either caused by a software problem or a network issue. Make sure that you factory reset the phone to see if it’s the former.

  1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Google account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Google credentials to finish the Master reset.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
