How to fix Galaxy A3 no signal issue: no network connection error when roaming

Welcome to another troubleshooting episode! Today’s post will address issues regarding Samsung #GalaxyA3. We’ve compiled four common issues about this device so be sure to browse through all of them. We hope you’ll find this post helpful.

Problem #1: How to fix Galaxy A3 no signal issue: no network connection error when roaming

Hi. I have a Samsung A3. I am in Dublin, and have a SOuth African sim card from vodacom with international roaming. I was able to connect initially, but am unable to do so now. I had temporarily place a Tesco mobile in the same phone- the phone can still work with this sim, but not my SOuth Africa sim. I have full signal (4 bars), the sim still requires that I use my pin but I get the error message ‘No Network Connection: No signal found for mobile networks). I have tried setting, restarting, removing and replacing sim etc but nothing is working. Let me know if this can be fixed.

Solution: There must be something wrong with your phone’s roaming configuration. This is either due to incorrect information within the device itself (network settings), or Vodacom has deactivated or put your account on hold. Try to clear the network settings first and see what happens. If that won’t work, contact your South African network operator so they can help you reconfigure your account or device.

For reference, these are the steps to clear your Galaxy A3 network settings:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap General Management > Reset settings.
  3. Tap Reset network settings.
  4. If you have set up a PIN, enter it.
  5. Tap Reset settings. Once complete a confirmation window will appear.

Problem #2: Galaxy A3 network signal disappears randomly after an update

My Samsung A3 has a blocked signal bar at the right top corner occasionally. I’ve done factory reset, wiped it many times and still no changes. My sim is undetected automatically during calls or on stand by. Calls can’t go or I can receive from others. I tried changing Sim cards but nothing. I got software updates recently after that I’m facing this problem, I had been using this phone for 1.5 years without this issue. I checked in service center they say they can’t help as it’s purchased from other country. Really bad service, it’s your company device how can you refuse it??? Never had this problem with any other company.

Solution: If the problem started after an update, there’s probably only thing that you can do to address the issue on your level — downgrading to the previous version of Android. There may be a some coding changes that affected the network function or modem of the device. Whether this is accurate or not may not be known unless you flash the firmware back to its earlier, known working version.

Flashing is a risky procedure but given the fact that Samsung can’t help makes it your only chance. Try to find a good flashing guide for your particular device and make sure to follow it. Be sure to research what version your firmware was before you updated it. This is important as you don’t want to install the latest one that is problematic.

Don’t forget, flashing can brick your phone. If you are not confident in doing it, let someone do it for you. The last thing you want is to cause software problems that can potentially result to more severe problems. Flashing is meant for advanced Android users only. They are the ones who know how to trouble the device  should they encounter flashing problems or errors.

Problem #3: How to fix Galaxy A3 speaker not working issue

Hi. I have a Samsung Galaxy A3 phone. Recently without any warning, the phone’s speakers stopped working. If i connect to headphones or any external speaker it works. On the other hand, during phone call, the speakers do work, which is odd. Also i figured out, if i start a music, of course i dont hear it, but if i type in *#0*# then choose “low frequency” im able to hear the music in a bad quality, but if i tap on the “speaker” option or i quit the *#0*# then the music mutes again. Seems like sonehow only the media sounds mutes, it’s odd. Can you help me?

Solution: There’s probably a third party app interfering with Android on this one. To check, try restarting the phone to safe mode. If you haven’t tried this before, here’s how to do it:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.
  3. When “SAMSUNG” appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  7. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.

Once your phone is booted to safe mode, it will only allow pre-installed apps to run. It is a good utility tool used by technicians if they suspect that a third party app is causing a problem. Make sure to check how the speaker works by replicating the issue. If the speaker works normally in this mode, you can bet there’s a bad app involved.

To identify which of your apps is causing the trouble, you should boot the phone back to safe mode and follow these steps:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your A3 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

Problem #4: How to fix Galaxy A3 random reboot issue

My Samsung Galaxy A3 restarts automatically and i don’t understand it. i have tried all methods that have been told on websites.  cache partition and hard reset as well clearing all apps which are harmful or not. also tried safe mode but does not give it. still i have changed the battery replaced a new one from the shop but didn’t work either. so i am very worried about it. what to do i have only one option left that is the touchwiz conflict . lemme do it . but i don’t think that will work either.  i hope i get suitable response from your personality.| regards.

Solution: A problem like yours can happen due to two general factors: software glitch or hardware malfunction. Under each of these general factors are items that you may be able to narrow down. Since you’ve already tried all possible software troubleshooting before contacting us, we don’t think that the problem can be fixed at your level at all. That replacing the battery did not make a difference at all is a sign that there may be a logic board issue. This means that the problem lies deep within the hardware itself. A trained professional needs to physically check the phone so full diagnostics can be performed. That said, we recommend that you bring the device to Samsung for repair or replacement. If that’s no longer possible, let a good independent technician take a look.

Problem #5: How to fix a Galaxy A3 that won’t boot up

I have Samsung A3 and I left it to do overnight software update two days ago..in the morning the phone would not turn on. I charged it and kept trying but the screen just stays black, every few seconds it very quickly flashes the Samsung start up logo and dies back again.. I have tried removing battery, sim, holding all the different button combinations you mention, nothing vibrated, nothing turns in just stats black and flashes the logo…i have tried another fully charged new battery in phone and it does the same.

Solution: Installing updates, even when done via usual means (over-the-air), is a risky major software overhaul. Because Android has a lot of moving parts, some devices may fail to boot up afterwards. At other times, the software update itself may be interrupted causing corruption in storage partitions. To fix the problem, try doing these troubleshooting steps:

Clear the cache partition

This is done under Recovery Mode so the first order of the day is to boot the phone to Recovery Mode first. Once you’ve done that, you can then select one of the options to clear the cache partition. This partition holds the system cache, which can sometimes become problematic after an update. A corrupted system cache can lead to all sorts of problems so keeping it fresh an up-to-date is a must.

To clear the cache partition on your A3:

  1. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key to highlight “wipe cache partition.”
  5. Press the Power key to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Master reset

Another possible solution that you can try under Recovery Mode is master reset or factory reset. Unlike clearing of the cache partition, master reset will return all software information of the device to defaults. This means that third party apps and user data will be deleted. If you have unsaved files in your phone, there’s nothing you can do to get them back after doing this. This is the reason why users are advised to regularly create a backup of their data, or at least copy them to another device or cloud before updating.

To master reset your A3:

  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  7. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  8. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Flash stock firmware

Manually installing an update can be a potential solution in this situation if you can manage to boot the device to Download Mode. Try to flash the previous version of Android only if you think you can do it. As mentioned above, flashing can potentially damage the software for good. Only try it if you’re desperate and unable to get support from Samsung.
