S8 No Signal From Network After Software Update

Problem: My daughter’s Samsung galaxy S8 updated the system software last night to G950USQS5CRH1, Android version 8.0.0. Now no signal is being received from the carrier. The phone has been working normally. I have gone through all the steps listed in your article except for factory reset or the flash software. At this point we are waiting for Sept. 20 when we can enroll in our carrier’s insurance in order to replace the phone. Has anyone else complained of this problem after Samsung’s latest update?

Solution: If this issue occurred right after a software update then you should definitely try dong a factory reset as the problem could be caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. You should also try inserting a different SIM card in the phone to check if the problem is caused by a faulty SIM.

In case the issue still persists after performing the steps listed above then you should have this checked at a service center.

S8 No Cellular Data Network Available When Making Calls

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 bought from US. Currently using it in India on an Indian sim card. I have a weird issue where I can make calls from my recent contacts. However when I try to make calls using dial pad it shows “No cellular network available. Connect to an available wifi network to make calls”

Solution: To fix this problem try to eliminate the SIM card first as a possible cause to this problem. Use a different SIM card in your phone then check if the issue still occurs. In case it does then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Try turning off the Wi-Fi calling option of your phone. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray. Tap Settings then Connections. Slide the Wi-Fi switch right to the OFF position.
  • Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t occur in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode,
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Cannot Make Outgoing Calls

Problem: Samsung S8 unable to make outgoing calls on mobile data. Carrier is Freedompop that uses Sprint. They so far have been illiterate with their help or at least until they pass me up to someone who knows more than reading the prompts on the call screen. I can make calls on wifi but not mobile. Everything else works fine mobile or wifi. just cannot make a call on mobile. I have done 2 factory resets with the same result. Beginning to suspect the SIM card but not sure. I have turned on and off settings in network settings to no avail. Any help would much appreciated.

Solution: The first thing you need to do in this case is to make sure that your account has enough credits to make a call. You can confirm this with your carrier. The next step is to make sure that the phone has a good mobile signal. If you are in an area with poor network coverage then I suggest that you go to a different location that has a good signal. In case the issue persists and since you have already performed a factory reset then you should try using a different SIM card in your phone.

In case the above steps fails to fix this problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Can’t Answer Phone Calls

Problem: To start I dislike my S8 ALOT!! I had a S7 before and went to Verizon (non corporate store) because I had a charging issue. I let the salesperson talk me into a new phone. I realizes too late the S8 wasn’t half the phone my S7 was. A level 2 tech at Verizon put it best, “I traded my loaded Corvette for a base VW “!! But it’s what I have, the latest issue is when my phone rings my phone symbol does not open until the 4th ring, my screen is completely blank. If I open my screen or have my screen open I still can’t answer the phone. HELP PLEASE !!

Solution: It’s very likely that this problem is caused by a software glitch. The best thing to do right now is to backup your phone data then start the phone in recovery mode. From here wipe the cache partition of the phone then do a factory reset.
