How to fix Galaxy S8 YouTube error: “There is a problem with your network [410]”

Hello and welcome to today’s #GalaxyS8 troubleshooting article. We would like to address one particular error that can happen on an S8 device (or any smartphone for this matter). This one concerns a YouTube app error that says: “There is a problem with your network [410].” If you encounter this one while using YouTube app, refer to our solutions below on how to fix it.

How to solve YouTube “There is a problem with your network [410]” on your S8

Google does not have a manual of errors for its apps and services so there’s no definitive and official explanation why YouTube 410 error code appears. But basing on circumstances that users report to us, YouTube “There is a problem with your network [410] error is usually an indicator that the app has lost connection to Google servers after switching networks. One of our staff experienced this error after switching from wifi to cellular data connection. Unfortunately, switching back to the previous network did not fix the issue at all and he ended up wiping the app’s data to get it back to its working order.

We hope you’ll not get to the point of having to wipe the app’s data so make sure to try the troubleshooting steps we lay out for you below.

Fix #1: Restart your S8

Most minor app glitches can be fixed by doing a simple restart. This is true for any smartphone, Android or not. YouTube 410 error may indicate a connection problem but it can just as easily be triggered by an unknown device glitch. By restarting your S8, you’re basically refreshing the system in general, including how the YouTube app works.

Fix #2: Verify if YouTube is up

Not every website, even the big ones like YouTube are expected to run 100% of the time. Although it’s very rare that Google services like YouTube go down, there’s still a chance that it may not be working properly or at all in your area. It’s also possible that there’s an issue with your carrier’s or internet service provider’s system affecting YouTube. To verify if YouTube is working, try access it using your phone’s web browser. If you have another device that’s connected to the same network as your S8, you can also verify YouTube through that. If YouTube is up, proceed to the next steps.

Fix #3: Reboot the app

Device restart may not work in this case so the next good thing to do is to close YouTube app, then relaunch it. While in the home screen, press the Recent button (the one on the left of the Home button), look for the YouTube app, and tap on the X to close it. Once opened, check if the app will now work without the error.

Fix #4: Force Stop YouTube

Restarting an app is sometimes not enough. If the issue persists after closing and re-opening the app, the next troubleshooting step to do is try to Force Close it, Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Scroll down, look for YouTube app, and tap it.
  4. Tap FORCE CLOSE button.

Fix #5: Clear YouTube Cache

The other good thing to do, if force closing it won’t help, is by clearing its cache. Every app keeps temporary files to help itself load and work efficiently. Sometimes, this cache can get corrupted, causing minor glitches. Clearing the cache may fix the problem you’re experiencing right now so be sure to do it. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Scroll down, look for YouTube app, and tap it.
  4. Tap Storage.
  5. Tap Clear Cache button.

Fix #6: Restart Wifi

Some users were able to successfully fix the problem by toggling wifi. To do that, simply turn off wifi connection for a few seconds. Afterwards, try to reconnect and see if YouTube apps.

Another possibility is to disconnect from your current wifi network by hitting the FORGET option. Once disconnected, wait for a few seconds before reconnecting.

Fix #7: Use cellular data

If you have cellular data subscription, you can also try to see if the problem is wifi related by switching to mobile data. Mobile data uses your carrier’s network to connect to YouTube servers so it’s a good way to know if the glitch is due to a bug on your wifi network.

Fix #8: Delete YouTube app data

Should nothing fix the issue at this juncture, the next good thing to do is to deal directly with the app by wiping its data. Doing so will revert the app to its factory version. This is often an effective way to fix most app problems. There may be an update issue that created the bug so reverting YouTube app back to its original version may help. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Scroll down, look for YouTube app, and tap it.
  4. Tap Storage.
  5. Tap Clear Data button.

Clearing the data of this app will also delete your login credentials so be sure to log back in afterwards.

Fix #9: Factory reset

Based on our own experience with this error, wiping YouTube data should be the last stop. Since some generic errors like error code 410 can be caused by almost anything, your case may be a product of something unique to your system. If all our suggestions above won’t help you resolve the issue at this point, you can drastically wipe the phone via factory reset. We hope you’ll not reach this point.

To factory reset your S8, follow these steps:

  1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Google account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Google credentials to finish the Master reset.

  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
