  6. Inside Discord folder, right click on Update.exe file and click Rename from the drop down menu.
  7. Rename the file to “UpdateBackup.exe” and press Enter.

Solution 3: Temporarily Disable Antivirus software

Antivirus or third party antivirus programs can sometimes cause conflict with Discord update process. For Windows Defender

  • Click on Avast shields control.

If you are using AVG

  • Search for the AVG icon in your computer’s system tray and double click on it.
  • Click on Temporarily disable AVG protection.
  • Choose how long you want AVG to be turned off and whether you want AVG to disable its Firewall too.
  • Click on OK to disable the antivirus program.

If you are using McAfee

  • Search for the McAfee Antivirus icon in your computer’s system tray and right click on it.
  • Click on Exit.
  • You should see a dialog box warning you that McAfee‘s protection will be turned off. Click on Yes in this dialog box to disable the antivirus program.

Solution 4: Reinstall Discord app

Reinstalling the application as there are times when the previous Discord app may have been corrupt. Installing the latest version of the application can help fix this issue.

To do this, you need to uninstall Discord first:

  1. Press CTRL + Shift + Esc on your keyboard to open Task Manager.
  2. At Task Manager, locate Discord then click End task located at the lower right or you can right click on Discord and then click End Task from the drop down menu.
  3. Press Windows button or Start located at the lower left.
  4. Click Settings, an icon that looks like a gear.
  5. At Windows settings, click Apps
  6. Scroll down to locate Discord and click on it.
  7. Click Uninstall. Follow the onscreen instructions for the uninstall process.

After uninstalling Discord, deleting appdata contents on Discord folder is the next step:

  1. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open RUN dialog box.
  2. At RUN dialog box, type the following “%LocalAppData%” and press Enter or click OK to open Discord appdata folder
  3. Right click on Discord folder and then click Delete from the drop down menu.
  4. Restart computer.

To reinstall Discord:

  1. Go to Discord Website to download the application.
  2. Click Download
  3. After download is complete, go to install package and Run DiscordSetup.exe and run the program as Administrator. Follow the onscreen installation process to install Discord.

Launch Discord app then check if Discord Update Loop failed Error On Windows 10 still occurs.

Solution 5: Reset Network Configurations

  9. Exit Windows PoweShell window.
  10. Restart computer
