How To Download Twitter Videos

As we all know, Twitter is a great medium to share information with others. In the past, breaking news has happened by Twitter users uploading videos to their feed of what was happening in their corner of the world. This could be happenings of what’s going on in political environments of other countries. That’s something that you might want to save to your phone to share with friends and family that aren’t on Twitter. Or, you might come across a funny video that you want to share with friends or family. But, how do you download this type of media to your smartphone, tablet, or even your computer?

Unfortunately, there’s not any straightforward way to download Twitter videos to your favorite device of choice. This isn’t something that Twitter typically offers as a native feature, and that’s usually because of copyright restrictions. There isn’t a whole lot of copyright protection on user-generated content, but there is on Twitter’s. For example, Twitter streams things like Thursday Night Football now, which isn’t something they want users downloading. If they were to add an ability to download videos, that would put them in an interesting predicament in terms of copyrighted content like that.

That said, all hope isn’t lost. There’s still a couple of options that you have for downloading Twitter videos on your phone, tablet, or computer. If you follow along below, we’ll show you just how you can do it!

Through An App

Yes, you can actually download a Twitter video through a third-party applications that you can install safely on your phone through the Google Play Store.

Download Twitter Videos

The first option you have is the aptly named Download Twitter Videos app. This is an that is free to download that allows you to easily and quickly save videos to your phone’s external storage. This allows you to view videos later right from your smartphone’s storage. You can even share those videos as an .mp4 file for friends and family members that might not have a Twitter account, let alone Twitter on their phones.

The app is free to download and easy to use. Once installed and initialized, open the Twitter app, find the video that you want to download, and hit the Share Tweet Via… button. Then, select the Download Twitter Videos apps as the option in the menu that appears, and then you can download that video to external storage.

The neat thing about this application is that you don’t have to download the Twitter video. They make it easy to share the video via other social media platforms instead of downloading it directly. If you don’t have the Share Tweet Via… option, you can actually copy and paste the video URL of that tweet to download the media as well.

The first step is finding the video that you want to download in Twitter. Click on the tweet with the media that you want to download. Find the Share button, click it, and then click Copy Link To Tweet. Once the tweet URL appears, highlight it, right-click it, and select copy.

Now, head over to Twitter Video Downloader, right-click on the empty field, and press the Paste button. Next, just click the Download button to the right of the text field, and your video will being downloading. This process will work on any platform, but you might find that it’s a little easier on PC or Mac because of the extra screen real estate you have to navigate around.

Depending on the length and size of the video, as well as the speed of your Internet connection, this could take a couple of minutes to complete.

Unfortunately, downloading Twitter videos to your device is a fairly complicated process simply because of the lack of native support from Twitter itself. You really do have to use a third party source to get that media on your phone or computer permanently. But, if you follow the steps above, you should be able to download a video from Twitter without any issue.
