Twitter is a third-party app that you need to download and install on your phone unlike Facebook that already comes pre-installed, although it’s still considered third-party. First solution: Force restart your phone to fix Twitter keeps stopping error

The first thing you should do if it’s the first time you’ve encountered this error is to force restart your phone to refresh its memory and reload all its apps and services. To do this, press and hold the volume down and power keys at the same time for 10 seconds or until the phone shows the logo on the screen.

Once your phone becomes active, open Twitter and try to login if possible. If Twitter keeps stopping error shows up the moment you open this app, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Delete the cache and data of Twitter

Doing this will reset Twitter back to its default settings and configuration but it could be the solution you’ve been looking for. If this is just an issue with the app, then this procedure will be enough to make Twitter work perfectly again. Not only does this method reset the app, it will also delete and replace its cache and data. And here’s how you do it: 

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification down. 
2. Tap the Settings icon on the top-right corner of the screen.
3. Scroll to and tap Apps.
4. Now, look for Twitter and tap on it. 
5. Tap Storage.
6. Touch Clear cache.

Third solution: Update Twitter app if update is available

1. From the Home screen, tap Play Store. 
2. Touch the Menu icon on the left side of the search bar (three lines stacked together).
3. Tap My apps & games.
4. Now, search for Twitter among the list. If you can find it, then there’s an update available for it. Tap the Update button on the right and wait until the process is done. 

If Twitter is not included in the list of apps with available updates, then move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Uninstall Twitter and then reinstall it

With this, we can remove the app from your device and all its cache, data and association with other apps and services. We need to remove it from your phone without a trace for now and after which, we have to reinstall it to make sure you’re running the latest version of the app. 

1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
2. Tap Settings > Apps.
3. Find and tap Facebook.
4. Tap UNINSTALL > OK.
5. Reboot your phone to refresh its memory. 
6. Once it becomes active, open Play Store.
7. Search for ‘Twitter’ and then install it.

This procedure will probably get rid of the Twitter keeps stopping error provided that the problem is with the app or doesn’t concern the firmware. However, if the error continues to show up even after doing all those procedures, it could mean that it’s just one of the symptoms of an issue with the firmware.

Fifth solution: Factory reset your Galaxy A40

At this point in our troubleshooting, it’s necessary to reset the phone because there could be other apps that also crash. After all, no one would want to use a premium phone that’s bugged down by app crashes or other issues. So, take time to backup your important files and data and then remove your Google and Samsung accounts from  your phone. After doing all that, then follow these steps to reset your phone: 

1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
3. When the Galaxy A40 logo shows, release all three keys.
4. Your Galaxy A40 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step. 
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
6. Press Power button to select.
7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
