How To Fix A Galaxy Note 20 That Can’t Make or Receive Calls

First solution: Do the Forced Restart

It’s possible that the problem is pretty minor, especially if you were able to make or receive phone calls prior to this issue. Thus the first thing you have to do is refresh your phone’s memory by doing the forced restart. Here’s how: 

1. Press and hold the volume down button and the power key for 10 seconds. This will trigger your phone to shut down and power back up. 
2. Once the logo shows, release both keys and allow the phone to continue the boot process. 

After the reboot, try making a call or call your own number from a different phone to see if the problem is fixed. 

Second solution: Make sure there’s a reception

If the first solution fails, then make sure your phone is receiving a good signal from the tower. If your phone doesn’t have a good reception, then maybe you are in a dead zone, or in a closed area. 

By simply checking the signal indicator, you’ll be able to tell if this is the case with your device. If it is, then there’s no need to worry as the problem will surely be fixed by itself. However, if your device doesn’t have service, then it’s better to call your provider. 

Your service provider can easily find out what’s wrong with your service and actually do something about it, especially if the issue with your phone is that you’re not getting a reception. However, if you want, you may continue doing the other troubleshooting procedures before doing that. 

Third solution: Reset the phone app

Assuming your phone is getting a reception and yet it’s unable to make calls or receive one, then there can be an issue with the phone app. Try resetting it by clearing its cache and data. 

1. Go to the screen where the Phone icon is located. 
2. Tap and hold on its icon until the options show. 
3. Tap App info. 
4. Tap Storage. 
5. Tap Clear data at the bottom of the screen, and then tap OK to confirm. 

After doing this, try making a call to see if your phone still can’t make or receive calls. 

Fourth solution: Reset the network settings

The next thing you have to do if the previous solutions failed to fix the problem is to reset the network settings. This will reset all the wireless services, and if the issue with your phone, then this can fix the problem. Here’s how it’s done: 

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and then tap the Settings icon. 
2. Find and tap General management. 
3. Touch Reset. 
4. Tap Reset network settings. 
5. Tap the Reset settings button.  
6. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern. 
7. Finally, tap Reset. 

After doing this, try to see if your Galaxy Note 20 can now make or receive phone calls. 

Fifth solution: Factory reset your phone

If the previous solutions failed to fix the problem, then what you have to do next is the factory reset. Assuming that the problem is with your phone, this will fix it. However, there’s always a possibility that the problem is with the network. If you want to proceed with the reset, then here’s how it’s done: 

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and then tap the Settings icon. 
2. Find and tap General management. 
3. Touch Reset. 
4. Tap Factory data reset. 
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap Reset.  
6. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern. 
7. Tap Delete all.
8. Enter your password and then tap Done to proceed. 

After the reset and your device is still having the same issue, then call your service provider as there can also be some issues with your account.
