How to fix Galaxy A40 that blacked out and won’t turn on

I personally encountered this problem several times in the past and I can assure you that it’s not really that serious, especially if it occurred without apparent reason or cause. Needless to say, you should be able to fix it on your own. In troubleshooting a phone with this kind of problem, you only need to rule out the possibility that it’s a minor firmware problem because if it continues even after doing the procedures in this guide, then that’s the time you have to bring the phone to the store or shop so that a technician can check it up for you. But here’s what you need to do if your phone won’t turn on for some reason:

First solution: Make your phone respond by doing the Forced Restart

This must be the first thing you have to do, in fact, it could be the only thing you need to do to make your Galaxy A40 that won’t turn on respond again. Most of the time, based on my personal experience, when a phone turns off on its own and won’t turn back on, it’s due to a firmware crash. A minor system issue that leaves the phone unresponsive. The forced restart is a simulated battery removal that will refresh your phone’s memory and reload its apps and services. It’s a pretty effective procedure for this kind of problem and here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or more.

If the Galaxy A40 logo shows on the screen after doing this, then the problem is already fixed. After all, what we need to do for this procedure is to make your phone respond again. If the device still won’t turn on or respond after doing it for the first time, try doing it again a few more time and if your phone still won’t turn on, then try the next procedure.

Second solution: Charge phone and do the Forced restart

At this point, it’s very much possible that the battery was completely drained. The thing is having a drained or depleted battery isn’t really a problem, is it? It’s because most of the time the phone would respond immediately when you connect the phone to its charger that’s plugged into the wall outlet. However, there are times that the firmware or the system crashes just before the battery runs out. When that happens, you’ll be dealing with a couple of problems that both result to an unresponsive device or a phone that won’t turn on. To rule this out, follow these steps:

  1. Plug the charger to a working wall outlet.
  2. Using the original cable, connect the phone to its charger.
  3. Regardless of whether the phone shows the charging symbol or not, leave it connected to the charger for at least 10 minutes.
  4. After which and while the phone is still connected to the charger, press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  5. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  6. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A40 logo shows on the screen.

After doing this procedure and your phone remains on a blacked out state and won’t turn on, then it’s time to bring the phone back to the store or shop so that a technician will check it up for you.
