Wireless connectivity issues can occur to any device at any time due to several reasons. That said, obtaining the ultimate resolution may not be that simple given the complexity of the causing factors. You’ll need to dig into a number of probable causes until you’re finally able to identify the main culprit. And that’s when you will know which solution would be necessary.
In this particular post, we’ve tackled a relevant problem encountered by some users of Samsung Galaxy A7 in which the device is unable to access the Internet via Wi-Fi network. Before you move on and carry out any troubleshooting methods, try to check the following things:
- Check if all your devices cannot connect to Wi-Fi internet. If all your devices are unable to connect or cannot access the Internet using the same Wi-Fi network, then it’s possible that the problem is within your network service. It could be the wireless router’s firmware that crashes or is glitching, or it can likewise be an issue on your network service provider’s end. To eliminate this from the possibilities, you can reboot your wireless router for about 3 times then see if that makes any progress. If all your devices still don’t have Internet access through Wi-Fi, contact your Internet service provider to check on your network service status.
- Check for network outages. Another thing to check beforehand when dealing with no connectivity issues on your device is on network outage. Many people would tend to forget doing so. As a result, they’ve wasted so much time and effort in trying any possible fixes only to end up not connected. Network outages usually don’t last long except if it’s a complex problem your network service provider is currently dealing with.
- Verify your account status. Service providers normally imposed a temporary disconnection to delinquent accounts or accounts with some unsettled issues. When this happens, outgoing services like texting, outgoing calls, and internet access are not available. You can also try toggling the Airplane mode switch from off to on for a few seconds and then tap to turn it back off.
- Try other browser app. If the problem only occurs to your Galaxy A7 device, you can rule out the possibility about the problem being isolated to your browser app. There’s a chance that your browser is glitching or has crashed. If you have any other alternative browser, try to switch to the other browser and see if you can connect and browse websites properly. You can also open other apps on your device that require Internet access to work like Facebook or YouTube. If you can browse the Internet using other apps, then it means that your device is connected to the Internet and that it’s most likely a problem with your browser. In this case, you’ll need to troubleshoot your browser app or switch to another mobile browser that’s working.
Solutions to Wi-Fi internet connectivity issues on your Galaxy A7
Demonstrated below are standard workarounds or generic solutions that are used to fix Wi-Fi connectivity problems and errors on your Android phone. If you have done checking all the things mentioned above and the problem persists, then at this point you can go ahead and troubleshoot your Galaxy A7.
First solution: Reboot your wireless router.
Just like computers, network devices like wireless routers also need to be power cycled from time to time. Doing so can help wipe any corrupted firmware data that causes random Internet problems. Here’s how it’s done:
- Press the Power button until your router powers off.
- Unplug the A/C adapter or disconnect from the power source.
- Keep it unplugged for at least 30 seconds.
- After the elapsed time, plug it back in to power.
- Press the Power button until all the light indicators get stable. Make sure no red lights on your router. Red lights usually denote a problem with the router that needs to be fixed so as to resume network connectivity on all devices using that network.
If everything is okay with the router and it has booted up successfully, restart your Galaxy A7. Refer to the steps below.
Second solution: Restart (soft reset) your Galaxy A7.
Minor issues in mobile devices like sudden Internet disconnects are often rectified by a reboot or soft reset You may have done it already but give it another try with these steps:
- Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds.
- Then tap Power off option from the menu.
- Tap OK to confirm.
- Wait for about 30 seconds then press and hold down the Power button again until your phone boots up.
After the restart, try to connect to the Internet. Open your browser then navigate to any website and see if you can go through. A soft reset will not affect any data stored on your device hence there’s no need to worry about data loss.
Third solution: Turn Wi-Fi off and on again.
While a soft reset can often take care of minor glitches, some problems are just tough enough to withstand the process and so they persist. If so, then toggling Wi-Fi off and on might be able to offer some remedy.
- To do so, go to Settings-> Wi-Fi menu, then tap the Wi-Fi switch to turn the feature off for about 30 seconds. Then tap the switch to turn Wi-Fi back on again.
Give your phone another restart then try to see if you are now able to access the Internet through Wi-Fi.
Fourth solution: Forget your Wi-Fi network.
This process involves deleting your current wireless network from your device. Wireless networks can become corrupted at times and therefore needs to be set up again. But be sure to take note of your Wi-Fi passwords first because this information will be erased in the process. So it’s like you will be connected to the wireless network for the first time. Once you’ve got everything noted, follow these steps to forget Wi-Fi network on your Galaxy A7:
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Select the wireless network that you want to delete.
- Tap Forget.
If you don’t see this option, you may need to tap on your Wi-Fi network then tap Forget network from the given options. Once the network is forgotten or removed, restart your phone.
After the restart, you will need to add and set up your wireless network again then connect.
- To to do, go back to Settings-> Wi-Fi menu. If necessary, tap on Wi-Fi to view available wireless networks. Select your network to connect to, enter the network password then wait until you’re successfully connected.
Do some test browsing to see if you are now able to access any website.
Fifth solution: Reset network settings or APN settings on your Galaxy A7.
A network settings reset is usually needed when things go wrong with your wireless Internet connection after making some changes to your device settings. It’s possible that some of the recent changes had caused conflict with the phone’s network configuration and thereby resulted to an error. Reverting the changes back to the previous configuration will most likely solve the problem but doing so might be too difficult for you especially if you couldn’t remember exactly of what has changed or which option needs to be reverted. This is where a network settings reset serves its purpose. Here’s how it’s done:
- Take note of your network passwords. Your network password and server information will be erased in the process.
- Make sure your SIM card is properly installed on your device.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap More Networks.
- Tap Mobile Networks.
- Tap Access Point Names.
- Tap the three-dot menu icon.
- Then select Reset to Default option.
Reboot your phone then try to test browse and see if you are now able to connect.
Last option: Master reset/reset your Galaxy A7 to factory defaults.
A factory reset should only be considered the last resort especially if you already have exhausted all your efforts and tried all possible solutions but to no avail. Although a full system reset can fix complex software problems, doing so will likewise wipe out all your data stored on the phone.
