How to fix Galaxy Note10+ charging paused error | charging keeps stopping

If your Galaxy Note10+ has charging paused error and you don’t know what to do, follow the suggestions below on what to do.

Galaxy Note10+ charging paused fix #1: Troubleshoot charging port and check accessories

If your Galaxy Note10+ started having charging paused error out of the blue, the first thing that you need to do is to see if there’s an issue with the charging port or accessories. This error can sometimes be caused by a faulty USB cable or adapter so if you haven’t checked yours yet, be sure to do so now. You can do that by using another official Samsung cable and adapter, or charging another Samsung device using the current ones. Either way should help you tell if there’s a problem with your accessories.

Also, try to see if there’s any dirt, lint, debris, or foreign object in the charging port that may block the charging cable. Presence of dirt or debris in the port are the usual reasons why charging may be unsuccessful. If you think that the port is dirty and it causes the charging paused problem, clean the port using a can of compressed air. Avoid sticking anything in the port to not damage the system.

Finally, be sure to check if the port is wet. Normally, if there’s traces of moisture or water in the port, “moisture detected” error will also be shown. If you recently exposed the device to water, or if you operate the device in a humid place, make sure to dry the port properly. You can do that by rinsing the charging port with clean water, wiping it with clean, soft cloth, then letting it dry for a few hours.

Galaxy Note10+ charging paused fix #2: Restart device

Charging paused error is a unique error on Samsung Galaxy devices and is often fixed by a  restart. If you haven’t rebooted your phone yet, be sure to do this procedure now. This is because some minor bugs may develop if a system is left running for an extended period. Try restarting your Note10+ and see if that will help.

There are three ways to restart your Galaxy Note10+. Let’s see each of them below.

Method 1: Try restarting it normally first by pressing the Power button to access the boot menu. Then, select Restart option and see if that works.

Method 2: Another way to restart the device is by pressing and holding the Volume Down button and the Bixby/Power key at the same time for 10 seconds or until the device’s screen turns on. This simulates the effect of having disconnected the battery from the device. If this works, this may unlock the device.

Method 3: If doing the regular restart won’t help, then try this:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t release it.
  2. While holding it down, press and hold the Power key.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.

The second restart procedure tries to simulate the effects of removing the battery pack. On older devices, disconnecting the battery is often an effective way in fixing unresponsive devices. If nothing changed though, proceed to the next suggestions.

Rebooting your device regularly at least once every week can be beneficial. If you tend to forget things, we suggest that you configure your phone to reboot on its own. You can schedule it to do this task by doing these steps:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Device Care.
  3. Tap the 3-dot at the top.
  4. Select Auto restart.

Some Android problems may actually be brought about by a lot of things and unfortunately, a few may be an indirect result of an update. This can happen if the system cache gets corrupted following a system update or app installation. To ensure that the system cache is fresh, clear the cache partition with these steps:

  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.

  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “

Galaxy Note10+ charging paused fix #4: Install updates

Updating apps not only fixes known bugs but they can also prevent potential issues from fully becoming a problem. In some rare cases, outdated Android OS may cause some apps to stop working properly. Make sure that Android is up-to-date by installing any available system update. By default, your Note10+ should notify you of any system update automatically. However, you can also check for system updates manually with these steps:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom and tap Software update.
  3. Tap Download and install.

If you don’t have this option, that means that your device may be running a carrier-branded software.

Also, second hand or pre-owned carrier-branded phones may no longer receive updates if they’re used in another network. For example, if you bought an unlocked Verizon Galaxy Note10+ and use it in a T-Mobile network, the device will no longer get system update notifications.

It’s also important to note that outdated apps can sometimes be a cause of Android problems. To lessen the chances of bugs coming from outdated apps, be sure to check for updates via the Play Store. To check for Play Store app updates on your Galaxy Note10+:

  1. Open Play Store app.
  2. Tap More settings icon at the upper left (three-horizontal lines).
  3. Tap My apps & games.

  2. Tap More settings icon at the upper left (three-horizontal lines).
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap App download preference.
  5. Select Over wifi only (select Over any network if you don’t have wifi).
  6. Tap Done.

Make sure to also keep your apps updated all the time by enabling auto-update option.

  1. Tap Auto-update apps.
  2. Tap Over wifi only (select Over any network if you don’t have wifi).
  3. Tap Done.

Galaxy Note10+ charging paused fix #5: Reset app preferences

In case there’s a default app that’s been disabled by mistake causing the bug, make sure to reset app preferences.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap on More settings at the upper right (three-dot icon).
  4. Select Reset app preferences.
  5. Restart your Galaxy Note10 and check for the problem.

Galaxy Note10+ charging paused fix #6: Check for bad apps

As mentioned above briefly, an app may cause problems with Android or with other apps. To check if you have a bad third party app issue at hand, restart your Note10+ to safe mode and check for the problem. Follow the steps below to boot your device to safe mode:

  2. Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode prompt appears then release.
  3. To confirm, tap Safe mode.
  4. The process may take up to 30 seconds to complete.
  5. Upon reboot, “Safe mode” appears in the lower-left of the home screen.
  6. Charge the phone in this state and check for the problem.

If your Galaxy Note10+ won’t show the charging paused error on safe mode, you can bet a third party app is to blame. To identify which of the apps is causing the issue, you want to use the process of elimination. This is what you want to do exactly:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your Galaxy Note10+ is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.
